F1 1993 LE by F1-S-R – Update Released

F1-S-R has released a first update for their recently-released Formula One 1993 League Edition mod for rFactor, fixing some of the issues that have been reported by the community. The mod includes the full field of the 1993 season with equal physics for close online competition.

F1 1993 LE has been made with full permission from Oggo and his GP4 team who created most of the original material. Lots of other modders have added material to this mod, please refer to the readme file for the full credits. In order for F1-S-R to further improve this mod, please consider leaving them some feedback here or on their website.

1993 was the final season to allow driver aids such as active suspension and anti-lock brakes, the season was dominated by Alain Prost and the Williams team, clinching both the driver and manufacturers title.

Maybe i’ve done something wrong, but this seems to have disabled alot of the force feedback effects.

Was working fine before the patch, checked my settings. They are on full and at -100% and it still feels really odd.

  • kevmscotland

And for the record, I know the readme says set to +100 but that reverses the wheel feedback, meaning if u move the wheel alittle, it will throw your wheel full lock.

Try going to a setting of -40 to -70 ..

  • kevmscotland

Aye, its not so much the strength, its the actual feedback effects.

Pre-update you have alot of resistance at standstill, then as you accellerate and gain speed it loosens alittle but you still feel like your lugging about a heavy car.

After the update, you have the normal resistance at standstill as before, but once u get to say 40mph, the steering goes all light, and u only feel anything when your going over curbs or lock the brakes, but again, barely noticible effects.

This update changes something thats effecting realfeel or something.

Look, we get that your nickname is ironic ok ? You don’t actually have to moan every time you post. The fact that you even both to post just to write something like this, it’s clear that you’re trying too hard to get attantion. Had a lonely childhood ?

First you complained about this mods physics and AI and now you complain when they patch it. So what is it that would make you happy ? What is it exactly that you think the community owes you ?
All this free stuff and all you ever do is complain and slag people off.

A question on the different FOV’s for the different team cars. Is this done ingame in the settings>display section? If so, it’s called ‘Vertical FOV’. If this is so, doesn’t this affect the visual and feeling of speed on the track as well? Are the varied FOV settings only intended to make the cockpits look proportionally proper?

It is amazing that you (F1-S-R team) are so passionate about this that you would all have worked to have an update released based on the sim racing community’s testing and experiences out so soon. Wow! Thank you so very much, we are indeed blessed. “The mod scene is rivaling the games industry for releasing mega stuff… and coming out way ahead in ‘delivering’!!”

Thanks for the update, makes it much more drivable.

I wonder if the original physics were the cause of my 911 GT3 RS wheel losing all power several times over the weekend?

Loving the mod so far, prolly down to its understeery nature, plus the sounds :)

  • Uff

Uncle’s message reported to Montoya, as he’s getting reallya annoying.

I tried the patch yesterday night, but it really seems to improve handling: my steering wheel feels more responsive and the understeer seems to be a bit less. I’ll try it better later, at the moment I can only say “thank you”: see you online!

  • GTking

Wow what an awesome surprise to see this released! can’t wait to race these on Kyalami! (was my first and only GP i watched live!)

the screens look superb, thank you for your hard work!

  • commodore

Apart from the new tire compounds nothing has changed. These still understeer like a bus :D

  • N0body Of The Goat

My wheel probs are completely unrelated to this mod. May have cured it by removing the Fanatec plugin, which adds more force feedback based on real time telemetry outputs, specific for rfactor… :happyevil:

I think I installed the update right but things still arent right. 1st gear goes to like 110mph ( I cant set it any lower ) and at Interlagos I never see 6th gear. In the default set-up the rear sway bar is set for 888lbs. There is also a few other problems…

  • smokey

Yeah, I was just gonna say the gearing in the update is all FUBARed. Compared the 2 HDV’s from pre update and post update, and it looks like the 1st gear setting from the original was eliminated. Copied over the pre update gear ratio’s, eliminated the mistaken 7th gear setting and all is perfect again.

  • smokey

Well, not perfect, but better. Looking a lot more closely at the HDV, they aren’t really even close to eachother. It’s as if it’s been done by a completely different person, not just adjust as asked. A lot of inconsistenecies here.

Hey Guys you have to reduce the “fineldrive” setting below all the gears (over the reverse button I think!)

And yes, it is indeed done by two different persons!

I did adjust the final drive. It’s as low as it will go and 1st gear goes to 110. I dont have time to look up the gear ratio right now…

  • Anthmen

    Gearing change issue:

    Update Tires
    Front: Radius=0.315, Rear: Radius= 0.355

    VS.

    Original Release Tires
    Front Radius=0.285, Rear: Radius=0.308

  • raulongo
  • smokey

Yeah, I’ve had to fix the tire radius in the TBC. Where before they were sunken into the track surface, after the update the rear tires now hover above it. I think I had to adjust the rears to around 340 or 345 to get them to look right.

As far as the gearing, the gear files are both the same, but the default ratios in the HDV seem like they skipped over 1st gear in the update. Essentially, the update has 1st gear as the original HDV’s 2nd gear, and then they added a 7th gear.
