F1-S-R has released the League Edition of their Formula One 1993 mod for rFactor, including all cars of the season with equal physics for close online competition. A historic version of the mod with realistic physics will be coming up later.
The mod has been made with full permission from Oggo and his GP4 team who created most of the original material. Lots of other modders have added material to this mod, please refer to the readme file for the full credits. F1-S-R is looking for feedback from the community to improve their mod with future updates so consider leaving them some feedback here or on their website.
1993 was the final season to allow driver aids such as active suspension and anti-lock brakes, the season was dominated by Alain Prost and the Williams team, clinching both the driver and manufacturers title.

Great on this 1993… but a question. Just like the 1991 LE (MMG) that was released with the promise of historical physics ‘to be released’ later that we are still waiting for, why does it take so long to release the complete individual car physics? Many of us are still waiting for those to be released, which make for a complete historical experience. The answer? It takes lots of homework, guess work, and without accurate true raw data it is more of an interpretational ‘taste’ of the mod leader and team. What a lot of us are grateful for is that instead of F1-S-R sitting on this gem until all the individual car physics are done, they are releasing this with one default physics code so we can enjoy a sampling of this incredible active suspension era.
Some clarification please. A little over a week ago F1-S-R released an F1 1991 Physics Guide. Does this mean that this ‘93 era will be released before the 1991 complete one? Or is it the other way around? Fantastic that F1-S-R is able to juggle two different seasons of F1. Thank you so very much for this New Decade 2010 gift!

yep its a strange one since i though they would be releasing 1991 mod since the date of the physics guide was 12/24/2009

Flippin’ hell. This mod is so slick. From the moment I saw the McLaren rotating on the spinner, I knew this was going to be good. The car model was amazing. So I checked out the others and were all of equal high quality.
Loaded up Monza 1988 and took it for a test spin. Tweaked the setup a little and had a couple of hotlaps. Hmmm, understeer and the brakes are either not there or not up to temperature :)
I was creeping around somewhat cautiously, I`ll admit. Not knowing how the car was going to react on the curbs. I was way off the pace.
After some setup work and more test laps and more setup work and more laps, I finally set the fastest time despite being +0.1 in the first sector.
I thought the external sounds maybe should have sounded a bit higher pitched but maybe not. I`ll need to check out some YT vids.
Cockpits are brilliant. Nice wheels and shiny glass on the dashboards.
Tyre textures are nicely made too.
I don’t know of an rF F1 1990’s mod that is better than this.
Thanks guys for this new year gift. Brilliant job !

just did about 30 laps at jerez and agree with F1Racer the mod is brilliant.
models are extremely well done the sounds are amazing i got it turned up loud and the b193 is screaming
.
cars handle good there seems to be a ton of grip available dunno if that was the case in 93. but you can really throw them in corners and power out the turns very early on throttle.
cant wait for the historic physics.
just one note it seems that using realfeel you have to have the ffb strength in game turned to positive instead of negative percent.

Help me out here in the physics, maybe I’m just missing something (not enough steering lock, wrong FFB settings, wrong setup, I dunno)…
Cars look and sound amazing, first off.
But they understeer like dump trucks! Again maybe it’s just me, if so help me OUT here… TCS on/off, doesn’t matter, I even cranked the springs and swaybars on the front WAY down, but the cars still won’t turn in the center of the corner… They even plow the tires, sliding the front end around!
I even tried cranking the front downforce to max and removing a bunch of rear downforce, and they still plow like crazy, except then they snap loose at high speeds (obviously.)
Am I missing something in the setup here? These handle nothing like the F1_88 or F1_91 cars….

Oh, and while I didn’t change my steering ratio in the Logitech Profiler (I run 900 for everything, even GP79, F1_91 and CARTFactor), I did try all sorts of steering angles in the garage, even up to 40 degrees for the hell of it.

Mod looks good,
sounds great too!
But i experienced the same as tigeraid.
Massive understeering into corners.
Brakes felt very weak.
Keep working on the physics and this will be a awesome mod!

Yep agreed, these are the two things I noticed too. Brakes werent so much of an issue as the understeer. But it didn’t seem to slow me down against the AI too much though. Would be nice if it was sorted out a bit though.

Glad the understeer isnt just me…what sucks is the Ai can take corners flatout, but I cannot….

Very simple answer to that mate. The 1991 Histoic Edition has soo many graphical updates and added cars.. Eddie the 1991 HE will have each and every CAR model and Livery will be represented in 1991 HE. This the LE version of 1991 that you have now will not look the same as the Historic edition.. Hope that helps and we hope to have the H.E. out soon..

with the understeer problem crank up the front df all the way for now
3 or so engine break
and say 20to 40 coast turns in off the throttle
8 or 10 diffrence for me front df and rear around
come on the f1sr server will gladly share a setup
hope it helps

I think some of the sounds need some work. Some of them seem to be good, but then with some there are overlapping and pitch problems, and some of the external sounds seem to be stereo while they should be mono.
Overall this mod appears to be top notch with quality models etc… Good job! Well done. I´m sure I will be enjoying this mod very much after the sound issues have been corrected.

Great mod guys thank you for all your hard work!
My only problem is i have had 2, 10 lap races at laguna and mid ohio. Both races the ai have run out of fuel and pited around lap 5-6, any help would be appreciated!

I just installed the mod into an rF lite based install, then I select the johnny herbert lotus and try a testing session at silverstone1988, then getting the error message: “error loading material f1pirel”, then another such error, then rF exits. Do I need to use a full rF installation for this mod?
All the best & keep up the good work,

Thats for the feedback guys, Dark Racer this was intended to be a On-Line Sim and to be honest we really did not off line testing and measuring of AI.. That being said we are working on a fix..

Love this mod, cars feel nervous just like they should have back then. Like the understeer and the brakes need all your attention!!! Models and sounds are fantastic, i especially like the Ferrari engine..that scream is amazing!! overall great job, well done!!!

Very nice mod, great models and (mostly) sounds. The understeer is massive if you drive tracks with race groove, like Jerez, but I had a fantastic time in the Lotus at Spa. Great potential in this mod.

great models and sound.
some great looking cockpits. others not so great. I can’t see the road in some of the cockpit views… is there an easy way to adjust this in rfactor? (not the cfg way)

Hmm expected more. :)
Great looking cars and the FF is great. But the sound is like it’s Mono and the understeer is way to much. Still a good mod but 88 is better.

Decent mod.. great models, great sounds.. bit too much understeer..
but big problems for me are some cars in online play appear to be ’sinking’ into the track, and ’tilting’ to one side, looking like they are on two wheels…
am I the only one who see’s this?

Lovely car models, stunning sounds.
Few major problems:
What’s with the low speed understeer? Its mental, makes the game annoying to play.
Even with tweaked setup, and warmed up tyres. Something aint right.
If this is sorted it would be amazing to play.

You can adjust the seat by setting up controls in the control-mapping screen. They’re called “Adjust seat ..” (fore, aft, up, down)

I agree 100% with dynosaur. I don’t see the “greatness” of the sounds. Most (if not all) don’t overlap properly and some of the distortion is awful.
The tire sinking problem is in the TBC file with the incorrect radius values.
Other than those issues, the models are top notch and a thing of beauty to look at. Being a LE release, I’m happy with the physics, well done.

Tried all that, didn’t help at all other than to make it more nervous under braking.

An RF mod with poor handling and BS AI?
Wow, that’s unusual! BWAHAHA!
I’d love to know who tests a lot of these mods as clearly it’s not people who have ever ridden in a car of any kind.

You see its guys like UncleChuckle that really tick me off.. Again have you read the previous posts.. Its an LE mod League Edition, meant for League racing On-Line. we tested with our Private league members.. All test went positive. As for testing.. most of our Team members have racing experioence. If you have been to our site you will notice who we proudly support.. Kemba Racing and Leo De Souza, who is an actual F3 Driver. Thanks. Most of us(F1SR) do not race off line sorry for that…

The last few weeks i was racing on iRacing only, but I had to fire up rFactor for this baby. And I have to say it is simply amazing. I’ve had no problems with understeer, FFB or whatsoever. Great mod.
@f1lover:
Don’t let guys like UncleChuckle tick you off. Not worth it. There always will be someone who has to complain. Maybe he just needs some attention.
I wouldn’t be surprised if his next post is about what a great race driver he is…

Superb Mod, I would say the physics are in the ballpark of where they should be, The understeer is an issue but not incurable with a few tweaks.
Modelling is excellent in general
The sounds are a good effort, but need refinement. The ferrari V12 seems to have a low quality feel to it. I Ford V8 lacks it’s distinctive deep undertone it should have. Instead it sounds more like a DFR from the 70s than the works cosworth from the 90s.
