Absolutely fabulous. These are authentic in my opinion, because they are the actual sounds (are they?). Check out youtube Ferrari 1989 F1 and you'll find them. I'm just amazed at how Montesky has been able to apply them accurately into the mod to sound correct at almost all rev ranges. Absolute genious. For me, for ultimate immersion, sound is right up there after physics.

I think the dopler efect may be changed by changing these values...
EngineShape=0.960
EngineAmbient=1.00

i do know raising the shape does make the engine much louder.. but didn't see much change with the ambient value i tested..

i am new at editing engine sounds, but have done a few tests to see what each section controls... i just wish i had a good sound editor / multi track recorder.

@slimjim well there is one way but you will also destroy the dopler effect that is adjusted for that engine range, so there is a little more than that and for your info the actual engine range it that video is about 35

@bjorn, yeah the mod goes on, montesky is doing almost everything, me helping with physics and stuff, nerbur did a new eurobrun wich is good and some stuff for silverstone and calico jack skinning cars.
But most of the work is montesky
and remember the basics of the models comes from cherry

Good tip, Slim ;) And Uff... Yeah let's wait... Hopefully we'll get it some time. There's a chance with F1Seventies, I think. They're doing good. And with Montesky behind the sounds - that part is secured well!

you can always make your own adjustment on how you think it should be or how you like it.. in the .sfx file...EngineRange=80.0.. higher the value the more you hear it far away.. the lower is less... very simple and never causes mismatches..

Yeah but still this engine was pretty loud... And clearly you'd be able to hear it all the way around the Gilles Villeneuve circuit and Monza as well. If there we're nothing else than that car and you on the track like in the video. The volume is pretty accurate I'm sure.

It depends on how the track is done, too: during these years F1 got more and more "silent", this is true. I saw them for the first time in Imola in 1997 and you could hear them quite far away from the circuit, while nowadays you have to be close to it in order to know that they are racing there. Also, being the track made of downhills and uphills, you don't always hear the cars: when they approched Acque Minerali, you could barely hear them if you stood at Variante Bassa (for example).

Obviously, you have to try the car (the mod, I mean :wink: ) in order to know if it's too loud or not, but I was pointing that out because I remember the problem that happened when MMG released v1 of their 2007 mod: sounds were so loud that you couldn't understand where a car was, because you could always hear its sound. That's the important thing that should be avoided. :wink:

Exactly McSaltens... The volume is perfect. You can easily hear that engine even if it's on the other side of a track, even on the Nordschleife.

Really looking forward to this mod. But did the F1 cars rev that high in 89? Sound a little to high pitched to me.

These sounds (especially the external ones) are amazing! Maybe just a bit too loud, as you can still hear the car even if it's on the other side of the track. :)
