F1 1982 for rFactor – Renault RE30B Preview Version Released

Lula K has released a first preview version of the Formula One 1982 mod for rFactor, letting us try out the turbo-powered Renault RE30B.

Driven by Rene Arnoux and Alain Prost, the RE30B was powered by a mighty twin-turbo charged engine. The car is included in two versions as both the early season version with front wing and the later development model without wing is available in the mod.

Lula is looking to get some feedback from the community so after trying the car, why not head over to the development forum and help improve the upcoming mod.

1982 was a troublesome year for Formula One as both Gilles Villeneuve and Ricardo Paletti died during the course of the season. Two of the main technology themes in 1982 were mighty turbo engines and ground effect cars as Renault, Ferrari and Toleman made extensive use of the modern technology. Williams driver Keke Rosberg clinched the series title while the Scuderia Ferrari ended up victorious in the constructors championship.

    Wouldn’t praise Varjanta very much.
Some of their mods looks very suspicious. such as the LM80 that looks very much like VLM’s mod.
I emailed Nugit the link to that mod and they certainly didn’t give permission to convert it.
I would suggest Montoya to remove the forum link as the site contains stolen materials from other modders.

This mod is converted from GP4 afaik, I’m a member of the site where the original development of the GP4 mod takes place.

I can also say Pedro is doing every 80′s year and is working on ’84 right now, hopefully soon we’ll have F1 84 in rFactor!

  • Luka K.

yes this mod is a gp4 conversion but with permissions…
    here’s the readme:
graphics and skins: Pedro & Luka K.
    3D model, car: Pedro

    Tyre Physics: Luka K.

    SPECIAL THANKS
Pedro – Magnificent original GP4 mod

Valiante – Graphics & models from the 1985 Mod

Indeed the LM80 Mod is a joke, the models are awfully converted and the physics are utterly poor aswell as the sounds are no where near the real deal.

  • jimmy

Very nice modelling! ;) I am looking forward to this mod.

  • jimmy

Models are not well converted, you’re right but I don’t think physics is “utterly poor”. It’s quite good IMO, you have to fight the power of these cars, you really feel the downforce etc… It’s better than many (if not most) rFactor official mods.

It never ceases to amaze me how some clown can accuse people of theft when they haven’t even checked the facts. Download and read the read me!

  • Firefox

If I came out that way to the author I’m sorry, the mod has been proven to me as legitimate to me and I was wrong.
But the LM80 mod lniked on the site is right down a rip-off of the Prototpye C F1C mod which VLM has never allowed it to be converted.
Why VirtualR still chooses to link to a site where it can be downloaded, that I can’t understand.

  • Slo Mo

You brought LM80 to the discussion. This is a tread about the F1 1982. Dont’ try to justify your desrespectfullness.

  • Firefox

    First it is called disrespectfullness.
    Second, You are right!
I made the misstake of misstaking Varjanta for a modding crew and this mod for being a part of it.
Fair enough, but still the people who converted the LM80 mod did so without permission and it is a shame that that mod is hosted at Varjanta and ofcourse that the site is linked here.
We could equally now mirror F1RFT’s site which also hosts stolen mods right?
What I’m saying is that it is DISRESPECTFULL to VLM having the site linked here and that’s the end of what I’m going to say about this issue in this comment section.
