Goresh has released a final update to his Formula One 1979 for GTR2 conversion, the 207mb download contains all cars and drivers of the 1979 Formula One season.
Originally created by Grand Prix Classics, the mod lets you relive the 1979 Formula One season when Renault, Ferrari, McLaren and many others battled for championship points and glory.
Below are some screenshots of the rFactor version to show you what to expect, included in the download are three sets of GDBs, championship & talent files so you can run an authentic 1979 season.

Ahh, the choices now. To race 1979 in GTR2 or rFactor. As Yogi Berra once said, “When you get to a fork in the road, take it.” Thank you Goresh!

rFactor + realfeel = better IMHO

With Realfeel you spend more time fannying about with settings than actually driving. And rFactor has crappy AI. It’s not a “sim racing myth” as has been purported, it’s a bloody fact. I should know, I spent months trying to make it the equal of GTR2, tweaking all sorts of settings, track stuff etc… All RF has going for it over Simbin’s stuff is better netcode, which I guess it needs since it’s got no decent AI to speak of.
In my circle of racing friends, only one person hasn’t deleted rFactor entirely. It’s pretty sad that Simbin took ISI’s own engine and then beat them to death with it.
Also, hasn’t version 2.0 of this mod been out in GTR2 for a while now? I know I’ve tried both (but maybe GTR2 was an earlier version) and while the RF version was horrendous, the GTR2 version actually felt good.

If you want the same FF in rFactor like the GTR2, copy the plr, as simple as that, both used exactly the same system…
To save you working here is the RACE07 FF but running in rFactor

Actually the AI was rather good for 79 mod under rFactor. It’s Urban Myth rFactor has poor AI but rather the mods built for it can and often do.
In fact only but a few of the so called “Hall of Fame” have decent AI. Historic GT and Italian & European challenge have very race able and competitive AI. It’s the open wheel stuff that causes the majority of problems.
But the real clincher when choosing which mod under whose engine is simple. Can I add AI to our LAN games. rFactor is the only engine that allows this.
And to counter the RealFeal thing I too don’t use it as someone so elegantly pointed “you spend more time fannying about with settings than actually driving”
You don’t really need the driver. A carefully tweak .plr setting gives just the same results and what’s more can be used in all Gmotor 2 engines via a simple cut and paste.

UncleChuckle: that was the GP79 beta for GTR2 by RMi you drove. As far as I know this current release has none of our physics translations or work, it is a seperate release. Quite unfortunate as well, some report the “beta” was much better in GTR2.
As for FFB… I use GTLegends values in all of my GMotor2 .plr files including rF

Spaceman, MorningWood:
Could you guys share your .plr files for GMotor2 games at a file download site, like the link that GeraArg posted?
I’m a hardcore devotee of RealFeel, as I really like the immersion and accuracy it provides. But so few rFactor mods are built for it and truly work well with it that it’s a bit of a bummer to put some fun mods into the bin solely because they don’t work with RealFeel. But that’s what I end up doing, as I only use mods that work with RealFeel.
But if I could get FF like that in GTL or RACE 07 across the board with all rFactor mods, that would breathe plenty of live back into this game for me.
Thanks!

simply open a GTL .plr and your rF .plr, compare FFB sections and copy/paste the relevant sections

Go to the .plr file, there is a line there with something like “visible wheels in cockpit”. Change that from “0″ to “1″.

They’ve got Villeneuve’s helmet wrong in one of the pics. It appears to be Tambay’s…
