i hope they convert their mod as fast as possible to rFactor 2. when i see the middle picture in the second row, that just looks so 90′s. just unworthy for such a mod.

that game is formula 1 for ps1 and was released around 1996. end of 90′s was almost ps2, which was released at the beginning of 2000. have a look at gran turismo 3.

Actually that’s on PC.

No, just no.

The graphics are perhaps 3-4 years out of date, but considering the game was released in 2007 that’s to be expected. A lot of the newer mods look very good, and the new tracks look good too. The PS2 came out in 2001, along with GT3 and this looks better when its all on low than GT3 does. Maxed with 32xAA its not a bad looking game, especially with the performance you can get.

My mistake, I mixed up the latest patch release date and the actual. That all said the last patched added a lot of features which modders are making use of.

By pointing out that fact you’ve only further made your point invalid though as for a 2005 game it looks excellent. FEAR was released in 2005 and that looks better – but its an FPS… not a sim.

Its at least as good as any other racing game released in the past 5 years. The only games that really beat it are DiRT2 and iRacing. Considering DiRT2 is all about the graphics and that’s about it its not surprising at all. iRacing is obviously better, being released 3 years later.

But its engine is still based on Nascar 2003, as far as I’m aware: that proves that you can have great results even with an old engine, if you pay the right attention to light, textures and shaders.

Yeah Uff, if we just get out the engine whats possible, we see a great graphic that does not look like an 10 year old game.

Physics engine was originally n2k3 based (not much is still that code, but the Graphics engine was re-written for iracing.

Yeah “based on” and “is” are two very different things. Iracing is fantastic maxed out and much better than any gmotor2 sim in the graphics department(physics are up to you i’m not gonna argue that). I love the cockpit shadows.

As far as the gmotor2 games… They weren’t groundbreaking in the graphics department when they were released and obviously aren’t now. While modders have put out some great content the sims are still showing heavily their age. To some graphics don’t matter. To me however I didn’t put together a nice gaming rig to not use it. So I look forward to rf2 and “GTR3″. There is nothing wrong with great graphics paired with great physics and the graphics ARE important as they can add a lot to the immersion factor.

They should release it just around 24 – 01 o’ clock… That’s where the transmission from 60 – 70% of the cameras around the track is halted… That’s where it gets difficult to stay awake – then it would be awesome with some great cars to run in rFactor until the sun comes up and the transmission from those cameras is returning
