Well sorry for hearing that Bryan! I really hope Randall Johnson pays what he owns you. Unfortunately just like any other business sim racing has a small part of dishonest people out there.

I just get hold of the simboot from Randall. Was away from home for few months. First impression is not bad. Very detailed production. Plus the colour I have chosen is just awesome. After I have extensively try it, I will post my opinion about it. Hope Randall won’t kill me for my late late review.

I had an idea while eating dinner, the first person to say they are interested in trying a set of simBOOTs will get a free pair. You have to do two things:

Also regular athletic socks and bare feet would do the job. simBOOT is just an alternative that is designed specifically for simracing, nothing more or nothing less. They work really well for the job they where designed to do though :)

Someone looking for alternatives should consider gymnastics slippers. Thin, light, breathable, easy but snug fit, lots of grip. Cheap too.

That said, I’ve never tried driving with some, but I put on a pair a friend of mine had and it struck me that they would be perfect for it.

Personally, I’m fine with socks. Some with the little grippy pads on the bottom would probably be perfect.

If you were really hardcore, you could get some rosin for your pedals. :)

But buy these of course, the extra $35-odd is probably worth it.

Well I on the other hand think gloves are a bit too much unless you’ve got an actual suede racing wheel. Moisture/sweat of your hands hardens it. So gloves are “needed”.

I was a bare foot driver for the longest time. Though I liked the idea of driving socks as opposed to shoes. I managed to acquire a pair of now “extinct” Sim-Sox (Randall’s product also btw) on about a year a go, and I do love them and race with them all the time now. I also got Sim-Heels, an additional piece to put over the sox’s to add a grippy heel. But I don’t like that. It also squeaks against my footplate :P I’ve got a load cell modified VPP pedal set btw.

I think shoes are just too thick, no matter how thin the bottoms are. Maybe with a super stiff brake it would be better if no ideal. Mine is fairly stiff.

Dunno how the G25 are, but certainly for the standard mass market pedals simBoots probably don’t offer much else than warmth :D Which is not a bad thing necessarily…

At the first glance of this article I thought you have to be kidding, but really it does seem a great solution & for not a rediculous price either. I may look at this sometime.

It was socks for the win for me but now I wear a pair of slippers that I got after I fitted the Nixim brake mod for my G25, they are a nice fit with a 4mm soft rubber sole which is perfect for heavy braking, and with a little trimming on one side means no more bruises after hours of heal & toe action!

I use a pair of Karting boots I bought on eBay over a year ago. Makes a massive difference for me, so I can see these being useful to some people.

I wear driving gloves but this is a little much I think. At least on unrealistically soft pedals like the G25s. Maybe if you had some CSTs or something more substantial these would make sense.

I will stick with my lucky socks that I haven’t washed since my first win. Hahahaha.. just kidding.
