DRM Revival 2.0 – Released

The DRM Modding Team has released the 2.0 version of their popular DMR Revival mod for rFactor, adding a brand new car and other improvements to the very popular mod.

The new version introduces the Schnitzer Motorsport Toyota Celica Turbo, brings new sounds and some physic changes as listed below.

Features

- New Toyota Celica Turbo in different versions
- reworked Soundfiles, mixed up with new turbo sounds
- few aerodynamic changes , retuned differential and
- Brake force distribution, corrected tires and suspension files, engine durability, etc etc
- adjustments for league races (fuel consumption, tire wear and performance among all cars)
- restricted setup adjustment possibility especially for the suspension

The Celica raced in the Division 1, facing competition from the almighty Porsche 935s, the Ford Capri and the BMW M1. The car competed in the 1977 & 1978 seasons, being driven by Rolf Stommelen & Harald Ertl and clinching some promising results. The Celica was entered by Schnitzer Motorsport, a legendary team that still is the backbone of BMW Motorsport to this very day, the Celica being one of the team’s very few non-BMW endeavors.

In its heydey, the German Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft was one of the most popular national racing series that ever existed, featuring spectacular & powerful cars and legendary drivers like Hans Stuck, Klaus Ludwig, Hans Heyer, Rolf Stommelen & Bob Wollek.

Even though the team announced that the 2.0 version would be the final release for rFactor 1, the team still has one car to add as the pictures below include a preview of the BMW 2002 Turbo that will be added to the mod.

Yes, thank you, thank you, thank you DRM modding team. To say I’ve been looking forward to this is an understatement.

Word of warning to others: The Depost files hosting seems hopeless, don’t even think of downloading the complete 600mb file, I’d hate for you to attempt to download 80% and then lose the connection. It stopped at around 2% for me. I then Downloaded parts 2,3 & 4 from mediafire quicker than it took to DL part 1 from Deposit files.. before that proceded to fail too. Maybe they’re just busy, but I wouldn’t trust it.

    Race on

  • Richard Hessels

    WOW!!!!

Feels almost like i have my birthday present today. Thanks guys for the great effort you have put in.This was already one of the best mods for rF1.

mediafire is currently likely to be the best free file sharing.

Anyway the mod is GREAT! Never start boring these incredible onboard sounds.

    Awesome! Thanks guys!

However the 2002 Turbo is already released? Or I dont see a picture of it? And what model is already in the current mod, isnt that the 2002 Turbo? (Not an expert on beemers)

    Thank You!!

Busy evening tonight and I know what I’ll be doing.  :D

The first moment I realise Megaupload is missing. Hate these other sites, deposit is slow, uploaded is  overloaded (yeah, sure .. ) and mediafire is the only one allowing more than one download at one time, but also slow (just me?).

Anyway, THANKS guys. Awesome job you’ve done.

Am I the only one a bit disappointed by the new physics? :( I know the goal was to make the cars more comprehensible, but in my opinion they lost a bit of feeling. They don’t give anymore that sensation of power and brutality they had in the 1.1…
But anyway it’s still one of my favuorite mods, thanks a lot for the great work you put in it guys. :)

  • Boss Player

Woho they DROP’D THE BOMB with this!!! yeeeh
    In Download. Lookin forward to.
    Thanks A LOT

Incredible mod. Driving these with manual clutch and H shifter is pure joy. The sounds keep me making lap after lap to hear them scream!

  • http://profiles.google.com/conticreative Marco Conti

I thought the previous version physics were broken personally and I like this version much better. I am old enough to have lived and driven the 70′s (just barely) and I remember street cars were not the wobbly, tail fishing, loose steering messes that some vintage mods make them to be. I would assume that racecars of the era were capable of decent road holding as well.

Maybe not the road hugging grip of today, but they were not cigar shaped, thin wheeled 30′s cars.

The new version may have a touch too much grip, especially in the new Celica (the Porsche is pretty lose still) but overall it’s an improvement and I relly enjoy driving this mod now.

I don’t have any problems with mediafire. In fact, it’s my preferred choice because there is no paid option, and that there are simultaneous downloads.

  • rui silva

Guys sorry to go off topic here but ever since modders “stopped” suporting rfcentral where do we go to find and get mods, like we did there, pitty what happened …

You could try the Rfactor tab on the home page here to look for mods etc, will be a few pages to sift threw etc

Can’t wait to try it out!, down loaded it last night & have to wait till after work b4 I can test…hmph.
I have Rfactor 2 as well thou I keep coming back to the DRM mod simply for H-shifting rear wheel drive Monsters ha ha.

  • Richard Hessels

There is still tons of new mods and tracks available on rFcentral or
    http://www.nogripracing.com/.
Only a few are not released on those. If you won’t read about it here or the 2 sites above, it’s probably not worth mentioning.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001061294656 Rhys Gardiner

The original was great, but sweet mother of amazing mods, this is mindblowing. First ever rFactor mod I’ve driven where I can enter a corner with confidence, and when I do lose it, literally feel the tyres breaking traction. But at the same time, I can correct it without having to worry about pirouetting.

Oh, and the Celica is brilliant.

    Fantastic job guys.

When an error occurs during to load the Toyota Celica, set the shader level to DX9.

@lucifero: No idea, delete all, install a fresh rf-Lite and copy all file into the new version

You’ll have to switch to DX9 mode. You get those errors with DX7 and DX8

  • Pvt Stash

Brilliant, was one of the best mods for rF1 and V2 has only made it better. Thanks to all involved for the time and effort put into bringing us this epic piece of work. :)

  • Pvt Stash

Agree, MediaFire is the way to go if you want to dl this one. They allow multiple connections, download accelerators seem to work and I get good speed from them, on average 1m sec.

  • Anonymous

Y’know this mod is great.  Loads of fun and very challenging.

But… as with a lot of mods I’ve never been comfortable with the greying out of the Brake Pressure option.   I get why its done, because the though is that if it’s not allowed to be adjusted it in the real series then it gets greyed out.
Where my problem is, is that what the mod authors think is defined as 100% pressure, might not be the correct 100%.  Suppose we define x as the 100% value.  Is that x value the same for all cars ?  Do all cars at 100% pressure produce the same force ?   I may prefer that the games 96% value should be my maximum brake pressure.
I dunno, maybe I’m not making any sense and talking a load of crap.   I’m sure many will disagree because it will go against some sacred sim-racing ethos.
I find the brakes very sensitive here, even without any engine braking.  Also with all the different pedals out there, some with varying sensitivies on them, it would be nice to allow is to adjust this to suit.   Unless the answer is to fix this in the controller options but I wouldn’t want to have to do that just for 1 mod.

    Sometimes I
head into a corner and brake with the same amount of force as I did on
the last lap and at the same point, only this time its locked up the wheels for some reason and by that time
it’s too late to stop it leaving the track.

I’m not getting at this mod in particular, its any mod with no ability to adjust the brake
pressure.  It’s a pet peeve of mine and I personally think we should be
allowed to adjust to suit per car and per pedals we use (Clubsport in case anyone’s asking).

All in all a superb mod, great cars and physics… all that. Just that niggle really.

  • Anonymous

No, 100% on different cars in a mod doesn’t have to be the same and usually it isn’t .
I just checked it for DRM, and for example Celica has front brake torques 2200 while M1 has 2600.
Nevertheless, I agree with you it wouldn’t harm to make it customizable. Not a huge range, 90-95 as min would suffice for those various pedals and especially for beginners who always lock the tyres wtith full pressure

  • Anonymous

Are you saying Im like a beginner ?  :)

Yeah I think with 90-95 I’d have such a better run.  I have a great set of pedals but just havent, so far, mastered the locking on that Porsche.   I’m too used to F1 maybe :)

  • Anonymous

amazing mod, just tried out the m1 and capri. The 320 though has really weird handling when you put down the gas, not sure what that is all about.

Can’t wait to see this mod ported and polished in rf2.

  • Anonymous

Not saying that, after all I lock with these cars every now and then too but it can be mastered, its obviously harder than f1 as thers not much downforce..

  • Anonymous

Well I just modified the .hdv of the Porsche to enable brake pressure adjustments in the car setup and allow you to adjust braking pressure from 70% to 100% in 5% steps. First I left it at 100% and went out for a lap.  For some reason the car felt more stable than before.  Maybe that was in my mind.  But it didn’t lock up as much this time. Barely anything in fact.
So I dropped it down to 95%, changed the gear ratios a bit and swiped 1.5s off my previous laptime. For sure the gear ratios accounted for 90% of that improvement.

I’m thinking of enabling brake pressures for all cars and if anyone is interested in being able to adjust brake pressures and have the ability to swap between the original .hdv’s and the modified ones and back again, I can make the modification available.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000276911283 Sean Gray

Yes please F1Racer I will be very interested

  • Anonymous

I`ll get it sorted out and post here when it’s done.

  • Anonymous

Thank u very much Dmatzies!!!  Shader Dx9 and everithing’s ok!!!
    Superb Mod!!!

  • David BEHAL

With the 320 you have to be extremely attentive to your engine RPM, this beast is not the most powerful of the pack but the engine seems to be one of the most brutal of all, almost on/off feeling to me.

Never let your RPM falling too low when cornering or the sudden coming of power when the RPM reach the “full on” point when you’ll floor down the accelerator on corner exit will surely make your rear end to snap unless you are very(very very) gentle with your right foot.

More than with any other cars in the mod you need to have a perfectly setup gearbox if you want to keep the 320 on the track

  • http://www.facebook.com/alistairheeley Alistair Heeley

I actually love the handling of the 320 – on tight, twisty circuits it’s great fun trying to beat the cars with the higher top speeds!

  • dmatzies

Yes it is a great idea, to make a modification and make it availible.
When the front tires have about 80-90 C you dont’ have this problem, only with cold tires and an empty fuel tank. Not one car of the DRM have a adjustable brake pressure.

When you open the hdv. or sfx or an other editable file from the DRM, you can find following item.

//  Modification, re-use or re-release of these//  files are expressly forbidden//  without the author’s expressed permission!

    Thanks for your respect F1-RACER_RR

  • Anonymous

An update: I did some more of this mod on le mans (virtua LM) set at 10pm at night with triple screens, and my goodness. I’m not quite sure I’ve experienced anything quite as thrilling as this in any sim to date. I urge everyone to give it a shot with some high ffb settings, it certainly blew my mind.

  • Klaus Krieger

u-uh, permission police alert…. this is so ridiculous. So what you´re gonna do, heh?
Just be fair an let ALL people have fun with your great mod, even if they don´t like some tiny bits here and there.
Do you gently allow him to tell people how they can change the files by themselves or is this “forbidden” too?
Not to implement that you have ANY legal rights on this one….http://vimeo.com/11749071

  • dmatzies

I can nothing to do. I have not a problem, when the modification only for the private fun, but when f1-Racer make files public, he had no respect.

Constructive criticism is useful to you exactly these changes with a new update pack can but not that all people of the files change. There are up to a few exceptions, none of which corrected the files in without being asked or reused for other MOD, thats my opinion point of honour. If this file changes, and publishing for the future will be normal,  I am in the wrong game

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

oh great, let’s disrespect these skilled modders so they lose faith in the community they do this for. Their free time, hard work and skill isn’t worth anything.

I’ll tell you one legal right they do have, it’s to stop putting out these mods. What files will you be able to change and distribute then without permission then Klaus? geez

  • Anonymous

Changeable brake pressures mod (with original files included)

    http://www.mediafire.com/?719ekl3fa77hcpu

  • Anonymous

Jeez what a big deal made over pretty much nothing.

OK here is my take on this… as Klaus said, I could easily just tell people who want to know how to modify the hdv files so that they have this feature.

    @dmatzies…
Whether I do that or take the easier patch of issuing a file patch to fix it, I have still only modified my own files.
It seems you are ok if I do it privately.  What if a lot of people do it privately ?  Is that also ok?
Because this file is only allowing them to do that. It lets people privately adjust their brake settings.   Obivously if they want to go multiplayer they will have to revert to original files.
Surely you can’t have a problem with what people do to the mods they have in private ?

This permission thing is only respectable to a certain level because after that it just gets a bit ridiculous. Forbidden to modify a text file ?   Why ???  So silly.
It’s going a bit too far because your work is not being ripped off or stolen.  Just 2 lines in a file being changed.  Theres nothing for you to worry about other than more people enjoying it but not 100% as you designed it.  Isn’t it the point for people to be playing it, why else do it ?
If you do it for yourselves then you have even less cause to worry what others are doing with it.

Its up to others if they want to do make the changes to their mod or not.   Maybe no-one does.
I don’t see how it affects you personally as the mod maker or even how it disrespects you as a mod group.   If the mod wasn’t worthy of the effort it would get none.
I happen to think the brakes are too sensitive for my liking and it spoils my usage and enjoyment of the mod.  Maybe it does the same for others too.   So I have a remedy which works for me.

Some modders need to get off this ego trip they are on when any part of their sacred work is touched by another hand.    Its ok to go nuts if someone rips off your work but that isn’t the case here.
Also its meaningless to put messages like ‘it is forbidden to modify these files’ unless you can legally back it up.  Why is it forbidden ?  Is it a sin for someone to disagree with a setting you have personally chosen in the mod ?
If you think I’m disrespecting you that’s too bad, but I can assure you it’s not the case.   Maybe if there’s a next update to the mod you can include an option or upgrage to alter brake pressures, therefore respecting the wishes of some of the users.
That way, people who don’t want to can leave it at 100% all the time.   Then everyone is satisfied.   Just because in the real series it doesn’t get adjusted, doesn’t mean it has to be disallowed in the mod.  Its a totally different case.  Different pedal sets people are using on the same car, some cheaper pedals are more sensitive or without the feeling you get on a real brake pedal.  In the real world its the same brake pedal on all the same cars.

Also before you go ranting on about permissions and what is forbidden maybe you want to take a look at all those liveries in your mod or even the car models and tell us if you got permission for those.

I like your mod and I enjoy it (with my alterations).  I respect you and all the work you’ve done to make it.  But I want to enjoy it to it’s fullest but I can’t with it in its original form and it seems I wasn’t the only one.
Making these changes is not a big deal and really doesn’t affect you or affect my respect for you or modding in general.  I happen not to agree with something in your setup so I fixed it and gave others the option too.  I hope you can understand that.

So… do I tell people how to modify it just make the files available to save people the editing ?
I’m going to do one of the two.

  • Anonymous

Sean email me contact(at)racingrenders.com and I`ll pass you the file.

  • Anonymous

dmatzies,  Whilst I do not agree with this modding ethos where it is ‘forbidden’ for another human to even touch a character or line in a text file when at the same time copyrighted and trademarks are being used in mods without permission…. I will for the sake of peace and to appease any ego’s, not publish the file.

    However…
For those that want adjustable brake pressures in this mod…  simply go to each cars .hdv file in the mod in the gamedata/vehicles/(car folder)

    Alter these lines:-

    BrakePressureRange=(1.00, 0.00, 0)
    BrakePressureSetting=0

    change to

    BrakePressureRange=(0.70, 0.05, 7)
    BrakePressureSetting=9

You will need the original settings for multiplayer so keep them noted or backup your original files.

    Enjoy the mod !

  • andreas fehsecke

It´s a shame to post these settings,

FOR ALL WHO WANTS TO PLAY ONLINE, THIS WILL CAUSE MISSMATCHES

THX F1RACER_RR for modify DRM MODDING TEAM intellectual property

And you will be a moderator of this forum

  • Anonymous

A shame ?  And why is that ?  No-one is being forced to use these settings.
People are allowed to modify the files for themselves if they want to do it in private.  In fact dmatzies himself said he was ok with that.  These numbers just allow other people to privately do that if they want.
Plus, I have already stated in my post that they will need the original files for multiplayer.

Take note that I have not modified anything here.  I have simply posted information. It is up to the individual if he chooses to use it.   Despite saying that it is ‘forbidden’ to modify any of your files, I doubt you have no legal claim to the text files or figures. You did not invent the hdv files from scratch.

On the subject of intellectual property, maybe you should ask who’s intellectual property are the car liveries and sponsor logos in this mod.  Did you get the sponsors permissions to use their logos?
We are talking here about a personal modification in a text file that people can make if they choose.  It’s a choice !   And if it allows people to enjoy the mod more, whats the problem ?
All this is, is a difference of opinion.   As long as they use original settings when they play online, I don’t see how this affects you or anyone else in any way whatsoever.

Lastly, yeah I was expecting the usual ‘moderator’ line at some point, so well done for being predictable.
My opinion on this matter in no way affects my ability to moderate so lets not get the two things confused here.  My opinion on religion or who I vote for doesn’t affect me as a moderator either.    If being a moderator means I am not allowed to express an opinion then I would rather not be a moderator.

It is simply my opinion that I don’t believe brake pressure settings should be disabled in mods because then we are not only relying on the mod group to guess correctly the correct pressure where 100% is calculated but there is no allowance for people with pedals that have no load cell or pressure sensitive feeling.   Cheaper pedals have nothing like this.   I know because Ive had a few budget pedals since getting the Clubsports.
Brakes are a feeling and feel different with different sets of pedals.  So why restrict the entire braking range to 1 setting that is basically someone elses opinion of what 100% should be ?
I wish mod groups would realise this and give people some movement in this area irrespective of how it is in the real world.  In the real world, brake pedals feel like brake pedals, we have approximations and have to rely on visual stimulus and ffb which is also different with each wheel type.  Maybe if this was taken into account in mods, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

  • dmatzies

    Thanks for you information F1Racer_RR.
It was the last public release from the DRM-Modding-Team, all links deleted
Thanks virtualr.net and Rob for you adminstration since the last years.

  • Anonymous

Well what a pathetic and childish response. So it was ego’s after all.
Are you after the sympathy vote or just wanting people to turn against me ?

You said not to publish any modified files and I didn’t.  You said you didn’t have a problem with the modification for private use. Well thats all this can be used for.

Doesn’t mean I can’t inform people how to modify a file if they so wish.  This is not a dictatorship and you cannot dictate what people can do with the mod for themselves if they so wish.
It only affects things when going online. For that they have to realise they must put the original files back.
Otherwise what do you care how people play it at home and offline ?

Sorry, no sympathy from me. I stick by my opinion.

  • dmatzies

In the next update / release, I must assume that you return any corrections or adjustments to this post to the thread. This will continue until every other user released his own “unbelievable” improvements.None of the changes can be tested whether this is appropriate or necessary, absolute chaos. This is not the constructive criticism and objective assessment of how I would wash me in the future. It does not matter, whether online or offline is gone, it is about the principle.
Suppose in 4 months we released a new car, can no longer remember that these lines have been changed.
Since there are discussions why the new car no adjustable brake pressure, no 1,000 horse power and and runs lower than 500km/h, because such changes are spread very quickly over the Internet.
And then there is the MOD from the DRM-MODDING TEAM and not your small change here that you have posted in virtualr.net.
As written, however I can not do anything, and against people who do not  want to understand it .But when the moderator of VirtualR not understand that, who else?
So I’ll just take my consequences, it’s only logical not childish

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry but I can’t make out much of what you’re talking about.   What I do know is that you are trying to make this into something bigger than it really is.  It is not chaos.
In fact I doubt many people have even seen my post since news of the mods release dropped off the VirtualR main page a few days ago. I`ll be surprised if more than a handful of people ever make the changes anyway.

Again, my being moderator has nothing to do with this. But I understand you are trying to use that angle as some kind of argument. People seem to like to use that card when they don’t agree with me.

I am breaking no rules here.  I haven’t broken any of your precious ‘forbidden to modify any files’ rule either and I didn’t release the modified files.
It seems you cannot stand anyone touching your files in any way even if it’s for their own private offline play. That bruises your ego’s because how dare someone disagree with your settings !

Am I letting out some sacred secret information that people could never
otherwise find out about if they searched the internet or asked friends
?  How do you think I found out how to do it ?
But..in your opinion, everyone must now suffer because you want to create a reaction and get sympathy. All that over pretty much nothing.  I hope it doesn’t, but your decision might backfire on you.

If you are going to release a ‘next update’, my suggestion would be to
enable brake pressure adjustments.   Not every user of the mod can
‘feel’ the brakes in the same way so some will not be able to enjoy it as well as
others. Some have pedals with no progressive feel, some have their controller settings set up to work well for them but may find it too sensitive for this mod.  Do they adjust their settings just for your mod ?  Or would you have everyone install the mod on another clean install just for that ?
Without this adjustment I wouldn’t even play the mod because I couldn’t enjoy it. Would you prefer that ?  There have been other mods with disabled brake pressures that I have had no problems with and some that I have. This is the first one I have felt the need to ‘fix’ it for myself and as someone else on here said they were interested in the info, I provided it.

If your mod was crap I wouldn’t even bother. But you actually have an excellent mod here.

One that I want to be able to enjoy.
Still, I don’t expect you to understand that.

Anyway, since you have taken this action of taking your mod offline and spoiling it for everyone just because you want a reaction in your favour, I have nothing more to say to you on the matter.
    Bad decision.
