Over at the CTDP devblog, WHAt21A has posted previews of the freshly painted driver suits for the team’s Formula One 2006 mod for rFactor.
Like everything in CTDP’s mods, the suits are very detailed and in excellent graphical quality. CTDP’s second F1 mod for rFactor will include all cars and drivers of the 2006 season including all paint schemes and aero changes.

I really appreciate this high level of professionalism but I’ve to admit, I think the modders seem to be lost in the details.
I’m not in a hurry at all but we’re in 2008 and this MOD is still based on 2006. I think its a nice idea to follow the car or even livery developments but a racing sim should be about driving a car and not about the suits that the drivers wear.
Anyway good effort guys, keep it up

i agree with you on the other point . maybe we could already play the mod if they dont make so much skins . but i have nothing against pretty driver suits . they take a long view for other projects .

No you wouldn’t be playing the modalready if our 2D team didn’t do the track specific car skins. And doing high quality driver suits. Why? Because these little bits are being done whilst the physics are being finalised. And I can tell you, the light is very very close. Closer than some of you may think.
Anyway – once again. Well done Shaun on the driver suits :)

Second note. The 2009 cars will be closer looking to the 2006 Monza specification than any other model done for 2007-2008 made by other teams. I don’t doubt the quality of the other mod teams, if they do the 2008 Monza spec then the bridges on the cars will probably be closer too.
Sure the rear wing will be have less width and higher and the front wing will be alot more wider. But in terms of aero flip ups and what not. The Monza specification in this mod, looks wise, and possibly aero values will be somewhat closer to 2009 cars. Only thing would probably need doing is a slick tyre physics file. That would tied you over to other teams who may work a little quicker such as FSONE and MMG could bring you a 2009 model and physics package

To me, I like to see the mod makers deliver the mod the way they want to do it. If that means us punters have to wait a bit longer (or no)t, then so be it. Its their mod and they shouldn’t compromise on it just to satisfy our timetables.
Doesn’t matter one bit that its a mod from 2 seasons ago. There are 1993 and 1994 mods currently in the works. So moot point.
Wanting them to hurry up is really just a compliment because you know its going to be good and you can’t wait to get your hands on it. But they really should be allowed to make it as they want it without feeling the need that they have to rush it (which they won’t).

well, I didn’t want to move the spotlight from the shots to the question of the details, thats why I’d like to highlight something that I’ve written…
“I’m not in a hurry at all but we’re in 2008 and this MOD is still based on 2006. I think its a nice idea to follow the car or even livery developments but a racing sim should be about driving a car and not about the suits that the drivers wear.”
OK, I’ve mentioned 2006 and 2008, but it was mainly because of the different nature of the cars that were racing and not really about the time spent. It gets a bit embarrassing for me to explain what I wanted tho I don’t think that my English is that bad. Sry

Wow
very impressive. I hope they manage to get the cars feeling right. RFactor doesn’t seem to portray grip very well in comparison to GTR2 etc.
I’m looking forward to trying it  . This is group who clearly take pride in their work.

CTDP post an update showing how awesome they are and some members reply saying it is TOO awesome?

Well no-one has said that at all.
Some are questioning the amount of detail needed versus the time its taking to get the mod out. Just a little impatience thats all. Nothing out of the ordinary.

if they doing this detailed suits or not
there woudl be no different in the realesedate
imagine, there are more modder then one who are working on this
so if an other thing takes more time than every other stuff the rest of of ctdp can focus on some thinks what makes a mod perfect like nice looking suits or safteycar

F1Racer,
That may be so, but nobody should ever be impatient for free content they have no right to. And as pointed out, adding great driver suits whilst other stuff is being done doesn’t push the date back at all.

Isn’t that what I said in my first post ?
