Corvette C7 Surfaces in Gran Turismo 5

Racing games are becoming more and more important for car manufacturers to advertise their products and here is an interesting new example of that as the Corvette C7 has suddenly appeared in Gran Turismo 5.

Even though the next generation Corvette isn’t expected to be unveiled to the public before the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Gran Turismo users can already check out a covered up model of the car in screen-saver mode that is activated during player inactivity.

This is a very interesting move to create interest in a new car, by using Gran Turismo 5 Chevrolet is reaching a large amount of potential future customers as GT5 has recently exceeded nine million copies sold.

    Its camouflaged. Way too early too base judgement on these shots. It’ll be another Corvette. Like a Golf is a Golf.

    Interesting, they did the same for the Nissan GT-R back in the GT5 Prologue demo including a live unveiling, as well as the first reveal of the then new WRX STi. Hopefully this is the first hints of manufacturers realising what good PR a hit game is and pushing to have their cars included rather than playing hard to get with high license fees.

    Agree. Judging on those pics and the video, it looks like a smaller evolutionary step from the C6 than it was from the C5 to the C6.
    The C7 looks pretty high on the front though.

    GM (or the Chysler group) is a bit more open to video game marketing I think. The new Viper was unveiled using Forza Motorsport 4 as the opening video for the car earlier this year, the car was made available to download for free in the game very soon after.
