Corvette C6 2012 for rFactor 2 – First Previews

some1 and Niels Heusinkveld have released a beta of their Corvette C6 2012 for rFactor just four days ago.

Now, first previews of the mod in rFactor 2 have been released, showing the gorgeous car off in a new environment.

A new preview video shows off the guys making use of some of rFactor 2′s new technologies such as animated windscreen wipers and animated driver arms.

Until the rFactor 2 version of the mod is ready, make sure to check out the rFactor version here.

Now we are talking! Just out of curiosity, what happened to the Supra? It basically vanished while the C6 has soldiered on through update after update. I prefer the Vette anyways, but just kinda wondered.

Hey Neils, did you use anything special to get this car into rF2? Or did you just follow the tutorial that’s available?

I should clarify, that Niels hasn’t looked too much into rF2 modding, since he’s still quite busy with rF stuff.

Since I’m the graphics guy, I did the conversion of the Vette from rF to rF2. So far, I only used information available on ISI forums and modding tutorials.

As for the Supra, I might get around putting it into rf2 too at some time. Patience! :)

Thanks for that info. I am going through the tutorial atm, so I was hoping that’s all it would take. I’ve put numerous cars into rF1 but I know the process is slightly different this time around.

Wow this is for me one of the best announcements around rF2 yet, I really like to drive race cars but road cars are more “fun” as you have more feedback and a larger dynamic range in the car with over and understeer (rather than just snap in and out). And you can drift them as well :)

Finally a proper road car for rF2, this will be awesome!

The C6 Z06 is a really good sports car, I have driven and drifted it IRL so ill be able to judge how accurate this is. If you guys want help with tuning the handling I can help out with the beta testing and physics.

Here is a short video clip of me playing around some with a Z06 at what must be the narrowest track i’ve ever seen, still I was able to get it a bit sideways :) At the 1 minute mark i basically have one front wheel on the grass and one rear on the grass on the other side of the track :) The video was filmed only a few minutes after I first sat in the car, the balance and handling of this car really impressed me.

I have driven many modern sports/supercars (e.g. Ferrari 360, F430, 458, Lambo LP-560-4, org Gallardo, Porsche Cayman R, BMW M3, M5 and M6, Shelby GT500 etc) and the C6 Z06 Corvette really holds up well against the best of them in handling, power, balance and driving feel. The Ferrari 458 is on a different planet than any of the others though :)

Great work on the visuals of the car! It really looks top notch quality, the interior looks really great as well!

Cant wait to get into that cockpit in 3D! :)

Ahh, very cool. I envy you for having driven a Corvette!
If you have rFactor1, you could try out the Corvette C6 beta we recently released and give feedback about that for time being :)

Wow, looks great, esp. the night driving shots and the lit cockpit interior. Looking forward to throwing this beauty around the rf2 tracks (hopefully soon!)

    Keep up the good work,

    Uwe

Unfortunately I dont have rF1, otherwise I would have tried the C6 Z06 there already… It looked great in Niels preview video at the ring.

    Corvette. Good choice :)
    Looks amazing.

Although I am not a huge fan of the corvettes, this is freakin awesome! :D

  • Marcos Sanz

    Supra was perfect :)

Keep up the great work guys! There’s a lot of us that really appreciate what you’re modding. Since there wasn’t so many quality street car mods made, I regard them in higher value to open-wheelers lol.

  • Niels Heusinkveld

That is one narrow-ass track! Respect! :-) I have nothing against rF2 but I can’t work with it yet (physics) as I don’t know how the tire model works, which is rather crucial. So I could spend ages on it but it would probably be worse than rF1 version. Physics are more about understanding the model than having the latest most complex model. :-)

Yeah, I myself am not quite satisfied how rF2 does lights (still no billboarded light glare) and many graphics aspects still need sorting out. I copied the Corvette physics 1:1 over from rF1, and while it seems to work, some funny stuff is going on with suspension for example. So, it will probably take quite some time, before the car is release worthy for rF2. I guess we just need to wait and see what the next rF2 beta will bring and if Niels can get information about tire physics from ISI.

  • Brandon Miller

Niels, thanks for all the hard work. The C6 is my favorite road car and I hope to have one some day, so thanks for that. Till then, it’s great fun to drive the rF1 version and get ‘er loose in the corners. I hope for progress on a rF2 version but understand the difficulty. Thanks again!

Very much hope they open up to you in the near future regarding tyre data. In my opinion, your mods in rf are very special, and so is GSC, so ISI would be mad not to give you anything you need in order for you to “do your thing” in rf2, It would be a real boon for ISI, i think, to have your mods (top mods draw in sales obviously). I know for me it would make rf2 even more invaluable to own.

Sir, that is not a track. That is some dude’s driveway. lol
