Aside from working on their F1 2010 title, Codemasters are also having the third addition to their Colin McRae DiRT franchise in the pipeline.

Now, a first video trailer of the upcoming title has been released, starring Ken Block’s Ford Fiesta Rallycross car in a variety of conditions.

If only we could have some rally racing instead of these embarrassing stadium shows.

  • Hobbs77

I don’t mine the stadium races but I definitely want a lot more rally tracks!

  • Hompe

I hope for more rally stages aswell, i think dirt 2 was a great game and even tho the physics were arcadish they sure felt great to drive :)  looking forward to 3

  • Mr. A

Good to see they have added snow stages again. I hope they will have more tracks per country in this game than they had in Dirt 2 though.

  • Floptickle

So, when are they gonna rename it “Ken Block Rally”?

  • Vivian

stadium shows NO! rally cross YES! and NO WAY ken block rally!! kenny is doing very macho with the shows but he is a laugh with WRC :( :(

  • Vivian

    dirt 2 it’s a nice game.

  • Helios_CM

Lots more rally in DiRT 3 when compared to DiRT 2, we’ve listened to what the fans want and have acted accordingly.

  • Stefan

    Who is Ken Block?

  • AW106

glad to hear about more real rallying being in this game but disapointed that block is still in it

  • Stefan

    Is it ingame?

  • Wesley

    WOOOOOOOW!!!!!

Great to see diRT2 gets an follow up, and great to see we get more rally.
To see Ken Block in it is still great, he might not be a good driver, but he is well known for his gymkhana practice videos and other marketing wich we see here too in this video, great to see this.

  • Helios_CM

It is pre-rendered, hopefully the final game won’t be too far off tho in terms of visual quality.

  • Stefan

Ok cause would it be ingame this would be a big step forward for physic correct smoke, fire…

  • Gulyo

Dear Mr. Block, get out of the game !!!!!

  • scca1981

Can’t wait!  Loved Dirt 2 and still play it often.

  • SergeantBoner

I get the feeling that ‘the block’ helps within the american market, to bad that a classic rally game is spoiled by some goatee because he displays what only the americans call rally.

however I will still buy along with F1 2010, go codies!

  • Harpo245

If it’s Dirt 2 with snow, rain and a bit more realism (harder, basically), I’m sold.

  • Harpo245

Could we also have more of those wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men outside the ‘RV’? Those made the game.

  • Carbonfibre

Puzzles me why they would announce Dirt3 now, if they had to announce anything at all. Grid 2 marketing will have to follow F1 2010 I guess.
I got bored half way through Dirt 2, I just couldn’t seem to leave the stupid arenas, the desert or weak American rock music behind.

Dirt 3 looks like a DLC with snow. The physics between 1:09 and 1:11 was enough to show no signs of improvement in that area ether. *DONT_KNOW* Now I feel absolutely miserable being so grumpy. I wish I could be excited about these things again, maybe turn the clock back 3 years this would be innovative instead of repetitive.

  • Dave

Will the ffb be fixed on this one or just more of the same grid dirt dirt 2
How about physics ,aimed at arcade or sim or realistic like F1 :)
Is the game aimed at racing enthusiasts ie we spend more time racing and less time at that caravan(personally hope some one torched it)
Hopefully live the life is gone for good,i mean look at forza or gt5 none of that crap and they still sell huge apart from any sim or arcade arguements.
If you want to make a racing game stand out, well then make the racing outstanding not tack on a mini rpg like in F1.
What is your role within Codemasters ,From what ive read you are the pr guy not a game developer, coder etc
Why have codemaster dumped so many games without fixing bugs and plainly lied about other things.
Eight Ball Dlc (lied to pc users for moths)Grid
Dirt 2 (major fps drops when connecting too p2p online with win 7 64 bit bug ) not acknowledged or fixed
F1 (Plain refusal to give answers on what if any physics and what wheels supported on pc bar a post togay about the leds working on the g27(Whoppe shiny lights on pc) and ffb and settings used by ye in game.

Frankly i assume this post will not be answered ,but at least people reading this section can make inferences by its refusal to be answered.

  • Sato-Kamikaze

Please do not obligate us to do some fucking gymkhana, but it’s good to see snow and rain

  • IWE

He is driving 2008 Ford Focus WRC in those events and it is one year older model than BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team have.

2008 Focus is slowest car being used in WRC at the moment and Ken wasn’t actually any slower than Villagra, Wilson and Al Qassimi who all are using the same car model.

  • Fonzie

    +1

  • IWE

Ken Block just announced new race series called ‘Gymkhana Grid’ on 9th of last month, so I’m not surprised if this will be included in Dirt3.

  • Ross Siggers

It would be polite to keep a civil tongue. There was no need for that

  • Dave

Not great language agreed however they are just words ,id be more worried about a company that takes your money and never fixes the issues that many have with it.

  • joseki

I am really glad to hear that Helios and probably your statement was enough to convince me bying Dirt 3.

I guess this is also the good opportunity to thank you for discussing with us, I think it is really big thing and I respect you for your that. It shows that even big companys have at least some heart and passion remaining ;) .

I know that I am not the easiest sim racer to satisfy and maybe sometimes (quite often to be honest) I am overly critical but that is only because of the passion of sim racing.

  • Bob

There was like one song that was cool…but thats about it.

  • Oggy

the physics in DiRT2 were fine. All that was needed was more rally and more cars. Wasn’t a fan of the Mitsu vs Subie thing going on in 2. Didn’t like the trophy trucks cause online it was a mess to drive. Would like to see trailblazer & hillclimb return though. Those are a blast!

  • krisby

I just want pure rallying, particularly old school rallying, with 2WD cars. With decent physics and these graphics it would be mint.

I doubt WRC will be any good, I know graphics aren’t everything, but if Dirt 2 can look as good as it does with multiple cars on track, and WRC looks pooh with one car on track, I just hope that is because the physics engine is spot on and takes up so much CPU power processing all the variables.

  • bob boblaw

I WANT PIKES PEAK IN DIRT3. Friggin stupid it wasnt included in Dirt2. Oh and I’m sure CM are really working hard on making the menu system even more of a waste of time to load and navigate thru.

  • nedge2k

I think half of you must be smoking something, Dirt 2 was utter crap. Dirt 1 was good but lack of online play killed it. Ken block is a showboating nobody not even fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Colin McRae. They need to strip this game back to basics – it needs to be 75% rally and 25% everything else. Get rid of the stupid voice overs, trailers and menu systems – keep it simple and smooth like Forza 3. All that’s needed for a successful game is Dirt 1 with more online play and more cars, especially historic cars.

  • nedge2k

…oh and they need to dial down the American-ness of it. McRae is British, the franchise should be focused that way.

  • rzezol

This game should now have got new name: “Ken Block Dirt 3″ ;)

  • Dave

Agree except i would put the racing at at least 90% and everything else at 10%
Dirt had great rally tracks just crap physics.

  • ScHiRoCk

Had some good fun with dirt 1 & 2. This will get on my list also! Hoping it brings some more rally back into the game!

  • renagade

Are you serious … you can’t judge the physic of this game with this trailer … facepalm

  • Firestarter

The processing power is used on lots of flashy graphics while the physics use a fraction of the processing power. But hey, thats what the “use and throw” society wants….

  • renagade

I hope that we will have more than new track, new weather system and new car … i hope for some upgrade in the physics, more rally and less off road its all i ask … all the other aspect of this game is great, graphics and crash are really good.

  • howiemotz@yahoo.com

(caution flame bait) The reason Europeans find Rallying so exciting, is all the drunk and retarded Europeans challenging the cars to hit them as they race by.    Other wise rally racing is completely boring.   I wouldn’t even call it racing.  Racing is against other opponents on the same track at the same time.  Racing against the clock?   Who ever saw a clock drive like a car?  Maybe some one should make a mod of a car made from a clock in rFactor. So people could really race against the clock. LOL       (provided to lift an other wise boring afternoon)

  • IWE

    :-P

  • Gaiajohan

Dirt 2′s FFB is good. The one in Dirt1 and GRID is pure bollocks!

  • Gaiajohan

Imo Dirt1 sucked badly. It’s physics were mediocre. Dirt2′s physics were at least a nice try without being too much arcade.. Dirt2 at least has some good FFB..

  • renagade

lol i would like to see you try to pass another car when the track is as wide as the car. You don’t race against the clock but against the time another racer did on the same track. I would like to see a F1 driver try to beat a rally driver on a rally stage.

  • Carbonfibre

Kimi Räikkönen left F1 for rally because he was bored. This says it all.

  • IWE

Ken Block: It’s official, DiRT3 is coming! Peep the trailer, starring none other than me in the Monster World Rally Team Fiesta. I’ve already gotten to play some of the stages in the new game, including the all new Gymkhana playground, it’s going be awesome.

    -Taken from facebook-

  • IWE

Kimi Räikkönen left F1 for rally because he was FIRED and not because of being bored.

  • Gaiajohan

Ken Block is imo too American… He’s too showy to be actually a successor of Colin McRae as game personality. Also note that until now we haven’t seen ‘Colin McRae’ in the trailer video. So will his name be scrapped, and they just go on with ‘Dirt 3′?

  • AW106

so all europeans and retards then, how come americans have never won the wrc, F1, world gt races.  we have a far better motorsports history than the us, rallying is just one part of this in it is in my opinion one of the best, anyone can capitalise on an aponants mistake if they are side by side but rallying a drver can’t see his oposition so has to attack all of the time, they also do not have the same level of grip so have to try even harder to keep the car on the road.
oh and one more thing if you Ever think of calling that many people retards just to amuse yourself then i hope your life is filled with pain and sadness

  • AW106

i just remembered, on the subject of american racing, the road racing is won by europeans, the cars are 90 percent european, indy car is an itallian chassi with an engine from japan, daytona prototypes now have loa who are british and nascar has toyota so show me anything that says racing over there is better that it is anywere else in the world
