Unfortunately it’s no all out rally game like RBR or the original CMR series but a lot of fun nonetheless. The driving feels a lot more natural and instinctive than Shift and graphics are the best out there at the moment, even beating shift with better fps.

As I drive NFS:shift, my precious, I decided to give a try to Dirt 2 as memories of Colin McRae rally left nice feelings. Instantly, as I drove Marocco rally in demo I found that this is some kind of a toy for people who like third person shooters. What is the point of racing game that is not racing game?

Sensekhmet: Downloading now. I see there’s some people in the ’simsnob’ (sorry) community who enjoy a good arcade racer from time to time! I thought I was alone with my guilty pleasure

'Arcade' racers are my roots. Test Drive Unlimited is still my all time favourite driving game, even including sims, I don't care what anyone else thinks. Dirt 2 looks like great fun. Between this and Shattered Horizon, I'm gonna have to upgrade to Windows 7 sooner than I thought.

Great fun, will definitely buy this game!
Only problem I have is that the menu in the trailer is dead slow (I mean 5fps…), the races itself are very smooth…

Anybody else have this problem and is there a workaround for this?

Wow, fun fun fun! Looks great and with a wheel you actually have more control over the cars and get better times (in my case, at least). First Codies game since TOCA 2 that makes plugging in your wheel worthwile

Great job, Codemasters! yes, it’s an arcade game and I prefer sims, but it is good fun. Demo runs great at 1920×1200 on my 8800GTX-based box. G25 control is MUCH better than DiRT 1 or GRID. Those sucked with a wheel IMO. As a bonus (unlike for NFS SHIFT), it works great with my CST pedals (i.e., supports two simultaneous controllers).

Nice looking game but would like to have a bit more graphics options. To calm down that hdr/ bloom a bit for example. Although they have it not so bad as in some other games. Just don’t understand why modern games force you to see it. Why I can set it to low in Crysis and enjoy almost realistic picture but can’t in other games.
My second complain is coloring. I am already sick of that brownish/sepia or whatever tint in every game. Maybe it’s spot on for Africa but think the sky should be still blue there. Games now look like a kind of old painting lacquered to death with a kind of brown picture varnish. I would prefer to have them in true colors.

I used a download manager, by the way.

Now, after a few races, the only thing I can say is… Wow! Finally a Codemasters game where you don’t have to become crazy with the steering wheel settings! Huge imoprovement compared to the past. And it also is perfectly optimized, at least on my side: I can run with everything set on max, a bit of AA at 1920×1080 and keep 60 fps with v-sync on!
Now I just have to lower those FF effects or my desktop will continue to shake like hell.

Well, I’m going to try downloading it from a different place to see it will work. My drivers and stuff are all up to date. I’m above the minumum requirements… and DIRT and GRID run fine.

Yeah, this is a really fun arcade dirt racing game and I like it a lot. A big improvement over Dirt 1, which I hated. I only wish there were some more rally stages.

@f1racer: I think there are 5 views.
I have Win7 x64, too and also for me it works fine. Nice arcade game, in my opinion, but definitely not a sim ;) But the physics have been much improved over Dirt1. I really hope F1 2010 will have a great sim physic =)

Works fine for me with Windows 7 64 and lastest nvidia drivers. Tried also on XP 32 but system reboot when entering the game.

good physics in this game, fun to drive, even g25 feels good, much improvement over Dirt1 :thumbsup:
