Looks like the guys at Codemasters are becoming aware of the communities’ doubt in their ability to produce a real simulation. Racedriver GRID’s execute producer posted the following statement in Codemasters’ own community forum to calm people down about their still unnamed 2009 Formula One game:
Right, I haven’t read every post in this thread, but I get the jist and just to stop you all from panicking too much… GRID and DiRT are aimed at an arcade audience and they do that very well. F1 has different requirements and will get a completely different treatment from our in-house team, including full on sim options, physics, rules and regs etc. We will also have arcade requirements catered for as well. How this will be split we do not know yet, but split it will be.
Now that sounds somewhat good, I´m just not sure they have the same standards for “full simulations” as the community. The prospect of them including the full regs and regulations is something at least, keep in mind that GRID did not even offer a qualifying mode.

History has a way of repeating itself @ Codemasters and they really need to work on the FFB issues before I’ll fall for their rhetoric.

Sure I like to see SimBin getting the license, but since they don´t I think this will be any good. Sure this guy says that Grid was meant for the arcade player, but they also said that is was on GTR2 kind of realism levels, yeah right. I like to see them prove me wrong, but I don´t think they will…

Have heard them say exactly the same regarding race driver series – the ultimate racing simulator….
Maybe they doesnt know what simulation means,

I smell bulls**t. I would love to be proven wrong… but highly doubt it.

…will get a completely different treatment from our in-house team…
A team that wouldn’t be able to recognize a proper driving sim enen if they’d be ran over by it lol.
Just like toca race driver’s subtitle “the ultimate racing simulator”. It didn’t even have friggin qualify, and the ai could only keep up by “catchup cheating” ! let alone the total crap physics.

They have a very good Engine, just need a good team for made a very good simulation, I trust in Codemaster :)

Yep, I think they’re worth another chance.
Now they have the F1 licence, I hope they really do realise that they can’t just pump out some arcade trash.
Theres money in the sim market too, so splitting sim and arcade modes is the best way to go.
Of course if they blow it with an F1 title, then we can drag them down afterwards. No good doing it before we even see a screenshot.
I’m going to keep an open mind for now.

So now they should start a forum for us hardcore simmers for a start & really start listening…get a rep from the dev team to start the ball rolling on the communication then we’ll see….

I have to laugh, you guys sdo realise Codemasters TOCA series was always intended to be an arcade title, only the first two editions had a sim leaning.
GT5P has shown a console sim can be a match for rfactor and GTR2, IF that is what the developers are aiming for.

Read the watermark. Thats right. TOCA Race Driver 2 was the “Ultimate Racing Simulation”. Could have fooled me. Wasn’t a simulation and it sure as hell wasn’t the ultimate at anything. But 1 out of 3 isn’t too bad I guess.
Let us move onto TOCA Race Driver 3s screenshots.

Oh, the game didn’t have this did it?
Codemasters record for telling the truth in pre-release PR Stuff so far has been around 0% as far as simulations are concerned. Perhaps this F1 “sim” will be different, but this is a boy who cried wolf scenario and I’m not going to give the benefit of the doubt to any company claiming TOCA RD2 was the “Ultimate Racing Simulation”
