steam really is raping my monies atm, the Rockstar Classics deal, and this, which I snapped up right away. :sd:

Dirt 2 for ten bucks, may not be a sim but thats damn good for a distraction :P

  • Timber

Rubbish. Why only via Steam and not for the console… :weird:

I would have grabbed Dirt 2 in an instant, if I didn’t already own it.

Dirt 2 is well worth it! Not a sim, but at least it handles well with a wheel and it’s fun. The other two aren’t worth playing with a wheel IMO. Handling is nothing but frustrating.

Timber: Rubbish. Why only via Steam and not for the console…

It’s so cheap because it’s being published via Steam. There are none of the costs involved in manufacturing discs, manuals and so forth, and Valve are about the only publisher that has experimented with pricing and regularly has sales like this. They’ve realised that it makes more profit to sell a lot of copies of a game at a low price than a few at full price when it comes to aging games like these. The console publishers haven’t yet twigged on the success of these sales, otherwise you might well have more cheap games on XBL etc.

Because this is not a “console sales”, but only refers to PC, where you don’t have to pay royalties to Sony or Microsoft to develop a game.
With Steam you can do this and let people know about your offers thanks to the web. A sale in a normal shop would probably reach much less people.

    Definitivly

Not a real sim, but IMO sim-like physics and great FFB. Fun to drive.

Ah, so that’s why I’ve purchased Dirt 2 on a disk for the same price this afternoon!

Not only is that £2 more expensive, you don’t get Dirt 1 for £1.75, GRID for a fiver or the other deals, nor are they offering all five games for £12.50. Yes, you can get cheap copies of games on disc, but rarely quite as cheap as Steam sales unless the game’s old and thus no longer a profit generator for its publisher. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m no mug, I’ll always shop around for what’s cheapest rather than assuming Steam is.

I only wanted Dirt 1, since I got the other games already. But Dirt1 doesn’t work on Windows 7?!

Works fine for me on Win 7 x64. Sat on a black screen for a couple minutes on first load, but then it was fine.

Couldn’t pass on the bundle, great deal.
