Custom-8 has released their Jylandsringen track project for RACE07, GTR Evolution & STCC – The Game, bringing Denmark’s top touring car track to the Simbin simulations.
The track comes in two different layouts, a 1475m variant that was used until 2003 and the modern 2300m layout that hosts the Danish Touring Car Championships and other motorsport activities.
If you´re wondering if this track is worth to be tried, just listen to what Danish race driver Kasper Andersen has to say:
“My first impression was just WOAW, I could not put a finger on anything, it is 100% carried through down to the last details! I have to say that this track seems just a tad more thorough and accurate than any of the tracks by Simbin. It’s just superb!”
A week ago, all VirtualR readers were given the chance to win a copy of Simbin’s GTR Evolution & STCC – The Game. Almost 900 readers entered the contest and most of you seemed to be very keen to tackle the Swedish Touring Car Championship as there was a high demand on the STCC copies.
Before we get to the winners, below are the correct answers to the four questions. I might have to step up the difficulty level for the next contest as most of you answered everything correctly.
One thing to keep in mind for next time: Some of you failed to include your real name and could not be included in the draw because of that – Fair is fair.
GTR Evolution
A) Audi recently announced to tackle the 2009 Nürburgring 24h race with four works-backed Audi R8 GT3 LMS.
B) BMW is represented with the most car models in GTR Evolution, including four WTCC (Extreme) cars, the Formula BMW, the BMW M3 GTR and the Z4M Coupe.
STCC – The Game
A) 23 drivers competed in the 2008 STCC season
B) Italy’s Roberto Colciago was the last non-Scandinavian driver to win the STCC title in 2002.
…and these are the randomly drawn winners:
Rodger Davies (GTR Evolution)
Patrick O’reilly (GTR Evolution)
Eduard Sloot (STCC)
Timothy Ho (STCC)
The winners will receive an email with further info shortly. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everybody who participated.
Thanks to Simbin, VirtualR is once again able to give away copies of their latest simulations. This time, two copies each of GTR Evolution & STCC – The Game can be won.
While GTR Evolution combines powerful GT machinery with the Nürburgring Nordschleife, STCC – The Game brings you all the action of Scandinavia’s most popular touring car series.
To win one of the copies, simply answer the questions below. If you´re interested in winning both simulations, answer all four questions. If you already own one of the titles, just answer the questions about the title you want to win.
GTR Evolution
A) One car model in GTR Evolution has recently be announced to tackle the 2009 Nürburgring 24 Hour race overall-win in full works-racing fashion. Which?
B) Which brand is represented with the most car models in GTR Evolution? (Car models, not liveries!)
STCC – The Game
A) How many drivers competed in the 2008 STCC season?
B) Who was the last non-Scandinavian driver to win the STCC title and what country is he from?
You know the answers? Great, then make sure to send them to contest@virtualr.net (please include your full name and a working email-address!) until Monday March 23rd 20:00 CET. The four winners will be randomly drawn from all correct answers and announced on Tuesday.
Custom-8 has announced the release date for their Jyllandsringen project which will bring Denmark’s most important motor racing venue to RACE07, GTR Evolution & STCC – The Game.
The track will be released on the 27th of March and will feature two layouts, a 1475m variant that was used until 2003 and the modern 2300m layout that hosts the Danish Touring Car Championships and other motorsport activities. Plenty of previews can be found here, the two layouts can be checked out below.
Ingo and Manuel Staggl have released the Mercedes Benz C200 for STCC – The Game, fixing one of the few big flaws in Simbin’s Swedish touring car simulation.
Due to license issues, Simbin could not include the C200 and had to settle for a fictional car named BMS Incognito. This changes now as Ingo and Manuel have made a proper version of the Benz, including a new 3D front grill and a changed template.
The car is standalone and comes with the new template to paint your own example, a first livery is already included as you can see below.
If you´re enjoying Simbin’s STCC – The Game simulation, you´re most probably annoyed to have a fantasy car on the grid thanks to Mercedes Benz giving no permission to use the Mercedes C Class model.
This may change soon as solslow is working on turning the BMS Incognito into a proper S2000 Mercedes as you can see below.

Back in May, I posted a first story on jDome, a new solution to let gamers see 50% more of the gaming enviroment and help the immersion of being inside their game.
Now, jDome’s John Nilsson has sent me a new video, showing the jDome at work with Simbin’s brand new STCC – The Game simulation. Right now, jDome is still in prototype status and is expected to hit the mass market next year.
Less than two months after the release of GTR Evolution, Simbin has released another RACE07 Expansion/Full Game that brings us the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Is the STCC Game just a simple content pack or another refinement of the RACE07 series? Read the review to find out!
Without taking too much away from my STCC – The Game review, most of you are aware of the fact that Simbin had to include a fictional car in the simulation as Mercedes gave no permission to use their car’s appearance.
There’s no stopping the community though as Klurax has already started converting the car to a full Mercedes Benz C200 as you can see below.
Team LMT has released their first ever public mod for rFactor, bringing Ferrari's F60 Formula One car and the 2009 version of the Singapore Grand Prix to the simulation.

Despite being equipped with the promising KERS system, the car failed to make an impact on the world championship. Along with the car comes the 2009 version of Singapore, Formula One's first ever night Grand Prix.
The team's first public mod for rFactor was helped by many modders who ...
