The new GTR Evolution homepage holds a lot of info and answers most of the questions left. Below are some new screenshots, all other preview material there is already known to VirtualR readers.
If you click “Read More”, you can find the full car and track list. Tracks include no surprises, we get what was in RACE07 as well as the Nürburgring GP & Nordschleife plus a combined endurance version.
The GT cars offer a mix of known GTR2 cars and plenty of new machinery, these category shows that Simbin is somewhat drifting into the fantasy direction though. The three GT classes include some cars that yet have to make an impact on GT racing (Audi R8 GT Concept, Apollo GT) and most of them sport fantasy liveries.
To wrap things up, four production class vehicles are waiting to be tested on the most challenging track of them all, the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Simbin has launched the official homepage for the upcoming GTR Evoltuion title. There’s plenty of reasons to visit GTR-Evolution.com as the site offers a brand new preview video, screenshots and more.
More intrestingly, the Simbin announcement states that the game will be released in the second half of August! Furthermore, the announcement includes another confirmed GT car, the Spyker GT2R.
The community is once again buzzing about the release date of Simbin’s GTR Evolution game and expansion pack for RACE07. Like posted here, the European release of the Atari version will most definitely be the 30th of September.
Amazon.com however now lists the game to be released on August 15th. Without wanting to ruin anybody’s hopes, I think it is very unlikely that American buyers will be given a head start of over six weeks on the European buyers. What’s not helping with cooling discussions down is the fact that all STEAM-using RACE07 owners now find GTR Evolution in ther game list - Listed as “Preload complete”
Now I´m pretty sure that does not mean much…but it’s quite a tease, isn’t it?

A few days back I was blogging about how the community needs some answers on GTR Evolution, Simbin’s newest title. Well, some of them are below, together with five new mouth-watering screenshots.
Below is the official features list for the game which includes some new bits of info.
That answers a lot, 26 GT cars is more than I would have dreamt of. Sadly, Simbin has yet to show us most of them, until now we´ve only seen a handful of GT cars.
The new arcade mode should be fun to those that don’t like simulations and the new tutorial might help turn arcade racers intro proper simulation fans.
Ever wondered how the intro video of Simbin’s upcoming GTR Evolution title will look? The answer is below as some clever surfers have found it hidden somewhere on Simbin’s pages.
The only downside is that the video does not include any in-game footage. So we still have to wait for moving images from Simbin’s next best thing.
Just one day after my speculation about the GTR Evolution release-date, Amazon Germany has corrected their data on Simbin’s newest title. Just like the French Atari website, Amazon lists the game to be released in September, the 30th to be precise.
Amazon UK stil lists the expansion pack for June 30th but its very likely that this will be corrected very soon too. The Viva Media version for the North American market is still projected to be released on August 28th but an earlier release than the European version is nothing you should count on.
The community is still in need of many answers when it comes to Simbin’s newest title, GTR Evolution. Every piece of information brings up new questions on the game’s content so lets try to fill some of the gaps.
One of the biggest questions is “When?”. Many of you feel that the projected June release would be a little early, especially considering the lack of information. With the planned June 27th release being just two weeks away, we would have already seen some previews or anything else, right?
The French Atari website now states a September release date, to be honest that sounds alot more likely. Amazon still promises a June release, they might be a little slower in updating their info though. The site also has three new (but small) screenshots that can be found below.
Those are not too spectacular as they only show the already-seen GT cars in different liveries. There is a little indication at where we´re heading from other sources though. German supercar builder Gumpert has sent out a newsletter, attaching a photo of their Apollo car inside GTR Evolution in fictional race trim.

Furthermore, the newsletter includes some info such as that 49 cars will be included in GTR Evolution. Now with Simbin’s somewhat odd ways of counting cars, does anybody of you care to do the math what this means for the different classes?
We still don’t know what GT and street cars will be included - But Simbin is offering a little help. This page lists all their currently owned license rights, including some exotic names such as Gumpert (see above) or SunRed. Now if only someone could tell me what a Paulin is…..
Finally, Simbin has published new screenshots of it’s upcoming GTR Evolution simulation. Just as some people got nervous over the lack of news, we get to see the new WTCC extreme cars as well as road cars and the already-known GT1 machines.
Sadly, there are still no previews of the Nordschleife. The WTCC extreme BMW looks very much DTM-like, the German series was obviously used for inspiration.
Simbin’s GTR Evolution is scheduled to be released at the end of June. With the release being less than four weeks away, some people are worried because of the lack of info. Despite the initial announcement and four additional screenshots, nothing could be heard about Simbin’s newest project.
With not much info around, Amazon’s release dates are one of the few somewhat reliable sources. Being one of the most important retailers world wide, Amazon would probably be one of the first places to announce a new release date.
Since my last posting, not much has changed. The full version is still listed to be released on June 27th in Germany and the expansion pack hits Britain on June 30th. It looks like as the full version will be available earlier, both may be simultaneously available on STEAM though.
Something has changed in the US though and it’s not pleasant news. While the European version will be published by ATARI, Viva Media is taking care of the North American market. They don’t seem to be as quick as the ATARI guys as Amazon.com lists the US version to be released on the 28th of August - A full 8 weeks after the European release. But, like all other Simbin products, American users get it for a very low price. $19,99 for all RACE07 cars and tracks plus the Nordschleife and new cars? That’s what I call a bargain….
It looks like as the planned 20th of June release for Simbin’s upcoming GTR Evolution expansion pack has been postponed a little. German Amazon lists the full game for 49,99 Euro to be released on the 27th of June.
Amazon’s Britain outlet lists the RACE07 expansion for 16.99 Pounds which equals 22€, confirming the projected price of around 20 Euros. However, the British release date for the expansion pack is listed as 30th of June. Amazon.com list’s the full version to be published by Viva Media already, giving no further information on price or release date.
Many people (including me) stumbled upon the following in a recent IGN article about Simbin’s upcoming GTR Evolution:
A wide array of licensed cars will be featured in GTR Evolution, such as the Aston Martin DBR9, Audi R8 GT Concept, Dodge Viper Comp. Coupe, Corvette C6.R, MNW M3 GTR, Gillet Vertigo and the Marcos Marcorelly GTC.
What the heck is a MNW M3 GTR? Since all the other cars are real, it is somewhat likely that this is a (double) typo, hopefully not some fantasy name to sail around licensing issues. The latter is unlikely considering that the term “M3 GTR” is most probably a BMW trademark too.
Still enough to get some people to freak out….
Over at our friends DrivingItalia.net, the box art of Simbin’s upcoming GTR Evolution title has surfaced. By just looking at the box, you can tell what an important factor the Nürburgring Nordschleife is to the game.
The box features all three new GT cars that have been seen in screenshots so far. The Aston Martin DBR9 is seen alongside the Koenigsegg and the Corvette C6.R. Just like on the screenshots, all cars sport fantasy liveries.
None of the other GT cars or the tuned WTCC cars have been shown so far, since the GT cars are not affiliated with any real-life series one can speculate what other cars will be included. Porsche 997 RSR or Ferrari F430 anyone? Or maybe something more exotic just like the Koenigsegg?
The game is supposed to be released on the 20th of June which is less than 8 weeks away. The price for the RACE07 addon is rumored to be a very reasonable 20€, an amount of money that many sim racers would pay for the Nordschleife alone.
