BMW M3 E92 Cup 2009 for rFactor – Released

The International Modding Team has released the rFactor conversion of their BMW M3 E92 Cup 2009 mod for GTR2. The mod brings plenty of BMW M3s in two different classes to the simulation, all liveries are based on real life teams.

The mod is based on wildman_fr’s BMW E92 M3, a semi-fictional version of BMW’s new GT2 challenger. The car is included in two different classes, PRO 1 & PRO 2. The PRO1 cars have 600hp while the PRO2 cars put out 420hp.

Read the title, look in what catagory it’s posted, read the first sentance and think again.

Nice mod! High quality model, nice skins and lovely physics!

    … nice skins …

So you didn’t even install the mod i guess?! Most car skins are 2048×2048 and dxt3, that’s why each car folder is >10 mb. And for what? They look veeeery blurry. Just open a dds file in photoshop, zoom in to 100% and you’ll know what I am talking about. Furthermore each dds file contains an alpha channel which is simply white, also the doorlines are too wide on many cars.
Seems to me that the modders focused on quantity and not quality, that’s a pity.

It is a conversion from the GTR 2 mod which has frame rate issues. Be nice if the skins were done from scratch to address the frame rate problem.

2048×2048 and dxt3 means 5462 kb filesize. There aren’t any mods around for rfactor with skinfiles bigger than that. In this mod you even have to double this (because of the windows-dds-files, which are usually 2731 kb or less in a good mod ), which will result in bad performance. Imagine a race of 30 cars, where only the textures for the cars add up to more than 300 megabytes. I have no understanding for that, as the quality of the skins is quite bad.

So your first argument of the skins being not nice is that they’re big? That makes no sence at all. Then you state that the skins are very blurry. Nice and high quality is not the same. Low quality skins could still be really original with nice graphics, something which I call “nice”.

Some people are far too picky, great mod, cheers for the work guys.

Love the MOD – but……… the level of damage is very poor. Don’t know if it’s my settings but I can ‘crash’ into a wall at over 150K and keep on going, don’t think that’s right.
    Any help???????????
