BMW F1.09 for GP4 – Renders

Usually, I don’t cover the GP4 scene but this item is remarkable since it’s the first virtual version of a 2009-style F1 car. Vass has released first renders of the BMW F1.09 that ran during the November Formula One tests.

BMW was one of the first manufacturers to unveil a car built to the 2009 aerodynamic rules and Vass was extremely quick in getting a virtual version done. Keep in mind though that this might not be the F1.09’s final look as the finished car won’t be unveiled before 2009.

It is safe to say that the new aero regulations make for pretty ugly race cars though, in the real and virtual world. So whatever Codemasters will do, the will probably not much beauty in 2009 F1 games/mods with these wing monstrosities around.

Yeah, I was about to say that, too. It looks horrible, but that’s not the fault of the modders ;)

I’ve always thought it would be great to put this car in a sim, just so it’ll be remebered, good or bad.

My first impression of the F1.09 was that it was the ugliest thing I had seen since birth, but it is somehow growing on me. I dont know what it is, but its radically different from F1 cars of “our” time, and now it looks kinda cool.

its not too bad.. *the real car that is*.. i think the mid 70s had some ugly f1 cars lol

I must admit MOST of the 09 cars are growing on me. Ironically the one I like the most most likely won’t be racing. (Honda.)

I think we’ll get used to it. But that BMW is really the worst example of the new rules.

First impression, well that’s one ugly car! As erale said it’s the F1.08B not the F1.09 and the rear wing is wrong, it’s too wide, and also I think the nose of the car is too wide although the front wing is correct.
