Beginners Guide to SimRaceWay – Video

Nuno Cunha has created a beginners video for everyone interested in SimRaceWay, showing how to get started with the free to play racing title.

The base content of SimRaceWay is free for everyone to try, giving players access to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as well as Mid Ohio, Infineon Raceway & Zandvoort. Additional content is available for purchase with prices ranging from a few cents to several dollars.

The title puts an emphasis on online racing, using a real-time skill matching system to offer close racing. Like SimRaceWay’s past website that was based on rFactor & other simulations, the new title will again be offering paid online races where players have to pay an entry fee to compete, free online events are available as well.

Why did the maker of this video use the swing arcade cam?
Immersion is so much higher from the dashboard view.

What’s the target audience of this platform ?
It looks and sounds more like a console racing game than a hardcore sim, don’t you think ?
I’m not bashing, to each his own…

That’s what my first impression was, so I didn’t bother with it until a recent moment of boredom. It’s more sim than you might think.

It has a lot going for it, more than I can list here, the biggest for me is that it runs on my ancient PC, and well. No other new sims will.

I’d recommend everyone give it a go, nothing to lose and you might actually like it.

You could see it as a free to play rfactor. It really is rfactor with a different multiplayer system and a different GUI. Also, no realfeel…

Speaking as someone that tried out SRW from the very beginning, I have very mixed feelings about it. One of my first suggestions to them was to have at least weekly longer races instead of those 3 laps 4 cars affairs they still have to this day. I was told that “maybe one day”. Then recently someone else made that suggestion on their new forum and everyone acted like he had just discovered the holy Grail hidden in his glove box.

Bottom line, if you like hotlapping, it’s free (especially if you are reasonably fast and win some of their prizes like I did so you can buy their $5-0 cars). If you like racing, it’s very disappointing. The last race I did there was in a under powered Mustang at the Phoenix oval. I can’t think of a more boring race.

However, some of the cars are fun to drive and they are well made overall. The graphics are not great. It’s definitely back to the future. The tracks are just passable and some of the cars are better than others.

I am hoping they will improve the variety of racing and it seems like they are going in that direction, but they sure are taking their time.

Hi Andrew, I use to play GPL long time ago and would like to play rFactor. Where can I download this game from?

    Thanks,
