They aren’t using rfactor. It’s rfactor-pro. Very different.

AIUI they can plug in their own physics.

But bear in mind they aren’t using it to design their car or fix aero etc. They’ll have different simulations and computer software for that (as well as wind tunnels etc)

They test in the real-world too, obviously.

As the article says, it’s a driver training tool.

So rFactor Pro is like a graphic renderer. It’s up to the teams to model all their stuff (tire, aero, …) and to provide the tracks.
So it makes more sense, they doesn’t use at all the rFactor models.
Very clever from rFactor, I’m sure some kids are thinking the contrary…

You guys seriously need to read up on rF Pro. AutSimSport had a very good article about it.

“2006 Bahrain 24 Hour race” version from CTDP is different than the track Webber uses.

With CTDP “2006 Bahrain 24 Hour race” is about 5,4 km. Here in the video, track is longer: 6,3 km

Being rF-Pro the base, to turn it into each team’s own simulator might be costly indeed. Building the models of car and tracks, creating physics sounds, etc. is a time consuming thing. Apart of that, consider that everything which goes with F1 is going to be costly, just because you’re dealing with F1.

So you can expect to find these rF-pro customized versions costing a good amount of money :)

if they use “off the shelf simulator”, then they obviously do not have any advantages over other teams, who have a purpose built sim.
