Looking at screens of both the Ferrari title and Shift, I find it pretty hard to believe they’re not both using the same engine.
(Keep in mind the Ferrari screens are much older)

I know the interview sort of implies otherwise, but I just can’t see it. Looking at it again I’m really not sure what he’s saying other than it’s “complicated”.

</blockquote>

Could be largely the same graphics engine, but not necessarily physics or software as a whole.

Hmm... You're probably right.

Comparing the screenshots that JimmyB posted, if I didn't know they were from different games then I would assume they were from the same game. So yeah, they are probably using the same(ish) engine after all. :tongue:

Ian says that the "tech for Shift is built from the ground up and has never been seen before in any game".

That sounds to me like Shift is using another engine than FP does. But maybe he means that it hasn't been seen in any "released" game before?

And yes, he sure knows how to build up hype for his games. :lol:

Where do you read that in this article :question: When the question is asked, Ian does not answer it ???

Good to see that Ian has not lost any of his usual PR BS :sd:

It works sometimes, just keep trying.

As I mentioned in the comments on the previous news post on this subject, it was interesting to know that NFS Shift and Ferrari Project doesn't share the same engine, as I would have thought. But the engine they are using for Shift seemed to already be in development before Shift came into the picture, according to the interview with Patrick Söderlund on gametrailers.com.
It would be interesting to know what the engine was developed for initially, and what engine is used for Ferrari Project. Reading the interview with Ian, it would seem like the engine used for FP is not as good as the Shift-engine (?) and being licensed from someone else (?).

On the Race Pro review. I can't understand how anyone can mention the games damage in the "pros" of the game. Maybe the visual part of the damage looks a little better than previous Simbin games, but that's it. I've tried over and over again to damage the car, but only managed to make it slightly less drivable. Not even when losing your wheels will it give you any difficulty to drive. And this is on the most realistic setting. I don't know why they bothered putting the more forgiving options in there other than turning the damage completely off. Other than that, the review was pretty much spot on to what I have experienced with the game.
