Audi R15 TDI for GTR2 – First Previews

Alless is working on bringing the Audi R15 TDI to GTR2 and has released first preview shots and a video of Audi’s Le Mans challenger running in the simulation.

Introduced in 2009, the R15 is Audi’s second Diesel prototype for the Le Mans 24 Hours. The V10-powered car won its debut outing at the Sebring 12 Hours but failed to match the speed of the Peugeot 908 at Le Mans, making it Audi’s first LMP since the R8 that has not won the 24 hour classic at its first attempt.

    I hope physics will be good: Audi R15 TDI is very difficult to drive. Audi pilots say the R15 is more difficult to drive than audi R10, and that’s why they developp now Audi R15 “PLUS”

    Looks good. What is needed is the ‘brutal violence’ of the incar experience. It looks to smooth, sterile and passive inside the cockpit. This is gonna be real good though! :sd:

    Looks like the AI is driving, IMO; hence the lack of steering input. If it were being driven on the edge by an actual person, I think we’d see a bit more driver input. Also, the diesel prototypes are extremely underwhelming in the audio department; last year’s American Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans is proof of that.

    well,..imho diesel sound are much quieter than these, really different. :wink: anyway is a WIP, so, good luck for your project.

    yes, exactly, a petrol V8.

    The sun glare effect has always been in GTR2 but you can edit the effect and the one shown in the video is definitely a mod.

    Yeah it sort of has that rumble that you get from a V8 but its all distorted and…..diesely :sd:
    I’d say the actual engine note in the mod seems quite close to the onboard footage.

    I’ve seen these cars at Le Mans last year.
    When these cars are passing by, just a few meters in front of you, their sound is overwhelmed by the Corvettes driving a mile behind them.

    I have completly new sounds, this video was more to show the car in cockpit and outside from grafical point, those sounds are from r10 i found at nogrip and i just used them in beta testing.

    The drivers say that above third gear they can’t hear the engine anymore because of the wind noise. Wind noise is missing in a lot of mods. I hope you’ll get that right.
