Assetto Corsa – Technology Preview Status Update

Shortly before Christmas, Kunos Simulazioni revealed the release roadmap for their Assetto Corsa title. Before the release of the first version later in Q1 2013, the team is looking to release a small “Technology Preview demo” beforehand.

Work on the technology preview seems to be progressing very well as Kunos’ Stefano Casillo recently shared the following on Twitter:

The infamous Tech Preview has been FINALLY put on the fire.,, let’s see how long it’ll take to cook.

Stefano quickly needed to calm down his followers, clarifying that the tech demo is still a few weeks away. Said to be include one car and one track, Stefano also clarified that the tech demo won’t include any multiplayer functionality.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

Assetto Corsa will be available in Q1 2013, the title will feature licensed cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW & Lotus.

This is more of a tease then it is an update…

Not long to go its already 2013. Can’t wait.

“Stefano also clarified that the tech demo…” text is incomplete!!!
    This is blashphemy! :D

  • speed1

Better some later as to release something broken. I’m shure they know what is right and when it is the right time to release something.

Let me finish it….demo will not feature multiplayer

    better than nothing!

“Few weeks” cant come soon enough! :)

I wonder which car and track will be included… Hope it will be the 458 but guessing it will be a BMW like the 1M or M3, could be the Lotus Evora as well. Zonda R would be the wildcard. If they really want to give us a slow start they pitch in the Fiat! :)

Track I’m guessing Imola (most likely) or Monza.

If im not mistaken,it will be abarth@magione

Bleah why the Abarth? Surely a RWD car would let you get a better handle on the physics, in terms of throwing the car around.

But beggars can’t be choosers ;)

Be sure that the online code is perfect and smooth otherwise Kunos might get itself hit hard.

First post, pointless link, Admin should keep an eye on you.

guys, let’s call things with the right name to avoid confusion:
The is the Technology Preview, that will come out soon, will not have AI nor multiplayer. Just one car on one track, as far as they said.

Later on, most likely just before the release of the v1.0 we will have a Demo, so that everyone will be able to test key features before buying it. Multiplayer will be included in the Demo. This is for sure one of the key features for a lot of us.

Jani, no more spamming links ok ? I won’t be repeating myself.

Well, my money is ready anyway :-)

  • Anonymous

…and my body is ready too.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

I guess that is a good start and we move up from there :)

Otherwise the Abarth will get little love compared to the other machines on offer!

I wouldnt mind that much but would REALLY prefer something RWD!

  • Anonymous

They won’t make that mistake again

  • speed1

This guys should be supported and i’m shure that everybody will be happy with AC on the end. If the retail price will be something around ~50 Euro it is not much for something like this. Today it is even not enough money to get a full tank of fuel for. It is me worth to support the team and this genre even without to see a demo before it will be released.

  • Anonymous

I for one will be happy if they give us that, we’ll get a little “teaser” so to speak, we’ll get to try out physics in something with a bit less power than most other cars, also a car we all know if we driver netKar version and we can quickly see improvements made in physics and not only that ;) . I really hope it’s going to be the best FWD I have ever tried in a sim, so far for me it’s actually the Clios in rF2 probably. We’ll see :)

  • gt3rsr

50 euro for a sim with multiple laser scanned tracks without any additional payments for content or online play would be a bargain.

  • Anonymous

I think we’re all aware of this. We just want a decent track and a car with dynamic handling (read: not something horribly slow and FWD) so that FFB and physics can be properly judged.

A stock BMW would, I think, be a good one to include in the tech demo, IMO.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

Agreed, the Clio in rF2 is the benchmark for FWD simulation to date. The FF with torque steer and loss of traction is just second to none!

  • David Wright

Remember its not intended to “sell” the physics to you – its intended to let Kunos test the new engine on a wide variety of hardware.

  • speed1

Yes and i hope they don’t stop to develope further. If we can get more HQ content like more laserscan tracks and cars, i would pay for a DLC pack but not for multiplayer service. For that is a dedicated enough and more flexible for the user. However i have a good feeling in relation to this sim and it’s future. I don’t know the developers but i believe they will give us something very special.

  • Drew Duncan

BMW doesn’t make good cars anymore. However, an old e30 m3 would suffice.

Hey…… I have read your article and I received good
    knowledge about importance of Technology
in our life….which proved that in today’s generation life without using Technical things is very
difficult….:) Similarly i found much more importance of Technology in the following
    sites:

  • Jos

dont most of use drive something slow and FWD in real-life?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003712360365 Lachlan Salter

    how can u tell?

  • Anonymous

Yeah, what’s your point? I’m pretty sure that we play sims because we want to drive fast cars that we don’t or can’t drive in real life…

  • Anonymous

Oh come now, you know a BMW M1 or M3 is a fantastic car. Is it interesting? No. Would I choose it over something much more interesting like a Maserati GT or Porsche GT2/GT3? No.

But you know that the M1, M3 and M5 are the standard bearers for their segments.

  • Anonymous

Aristotelis posted somewhere(maybe in an inteview),that was sure about the track Magione but wasnt sure about the car..Then in last interviews i think(im not sure) they said that tech demo would have the abarth. Now dont ask me where are those interviews…go figure

PS: Cause i read many posts about the choises of abarth..As someone said we will be able to see how much better physics are comparing to the abarth in nKPRO and in the end this tech-demo has a purpose and the purpose isnt the enjoyment :P (but i feel u :D)

  • C4

Probably true, and simulating FWD isn’t easier then RWD at all. It’s much more subtle though, as on throttle behaviour is more predictable then on RWDs, and power is limited on any FWD compared to RWD race or supercars. But of course all dynamics must be calculated as well and as you said unlike LMP or F1 cars many people will have some experience with similar cars, and even basic things like weight transfer, suspension will be interesting to observe as not every racing game / sim gets that right. In fact FWD and of course AWD is more of a weak point in many of them.

However I would have preferred an FR car like the E30 or one of the race cars.

  • gt3rsr

Yes, that’s my opinion too, I don’t wanna pay just for an access to the online play but I would gladly pay for official DLCs with new laser scanner tracks and well-made cars.

  • Kai

wot?? just did a test drive with it around donington with my CSR wheel, again: AMAZING physics and FFB but graphics are sooo dated, but this will change soon… come on kunos! :o)

  • Nemesysco

    I am also ready for it. Well, people have become too much innovative out of which, I know one of the best one like;
