i love hearing independent reviews from sim racing reporters who wear iracing tshirts.
its the true sign of impartiality.

  • bduddy

As opposed to independent coverage by a guy on SMS’ payroll? Someone has to pay the bills…

  • Vali

    Uhmm… the penguin thing… :(

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

iRacing are their sponsors. What do you expect ? Doesn’t mean they can’t offer honest opinions on other software. As long as iRacing gets its airtime I’m sure iRacing will be fine with SRT promoting other software.
    You’re making something from nothing.

That’s better. Covering important new stuff. You always do it well Shaun and Darin.

I’m beginning to enjoy these shows again, not just one long iRacing commercial anymore, thank you!

  • David Wright

Their views seem more impartial than the average forum poster who isn’t sponsored. We all come to the table with different backgrounds and experiences. For me the fact the show is from the US has a bigger influence than its sponsors – indeed I suspect that’s why they have the sponsors they do. iRacing was aimed firmly at the US market (and nothing wrong with that) as indeed was DKs old company Papyrus, so not surprising ISR are fans. The presenters can’t help being American, and they do their best to provide an international coverage (F1 and rallying are not big in the US but ISR are fans) – far better than I could (NASCAR would get no coverage if I did a show).

Thanks for the review ISR – very helpful for someone with an XP gaming PC like me who can’t try the technology preview.

Didn’t we have this iRacing ISR discussion like a zillion years ago? Grow up…

  • Anonymous

yeah, sure – you sit there amongst your $000s of (probably donated) hardware and criticise people for being too poor to afford to buy everything.

“Support these guys”? What is this, a frickin charity?

  • http://www.facebook.com/lasse.j.ougaard Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

Haha, come on, that’s just ranting for ranting’s sake! We’re talking 5 euro’s here – it doesn’t even take me 20 minutes of work to earn that, and I’ve already spent serveral times that amount of time, trying to get up Trento Bondone in one piece… It’s not like they tell you to buy a clubsport wheel.

  • Anonymous

Gosh look – privileged people laughing at poverty. Shock.

  • Anonymous

Not having renewed my iracing account, I’m very much looking forward to AC, if the physics and tire model is anything like NKP I’m sold. I’m still having a lot of fun out there for almost free.

  • Anonymous

you in a bad mood today or something?

  • Anonymous

Was just about to post this. I remember so many times them saying “we don’t do first looks, we will wait”. And their laughable, we’ll wait 22 years for full updates before we review game A”. Then when they do finally and redundantly review it, they still do rather basic reviews. Sometimes they ‘seem’ detailed, but only if you hadn’t played the game much, if you had, you actually knew much more than the review was saying. So why wait so long in the first place then?

Well, RF2 is quite mature now but you still ignore it. As much as i like these guys, the more i get familiar with sim racing, the more i think they don’t really know what is going on in sim racing, and sometimes when they do mention pcars, rf2 or others, they say really noobie things that are incorrect. Are you guys really sim enthusiasts?

    Come on, get it together.

Ps, don’t out me on next episode for complaining :) Just kidding.

  • Anonymous

the PS..LOL. Better watch out or you will be the next Ben Cornett. I have to agree with your comment BTW. Seems that Shaun and Darin don’t have much knowledge about other sims. There is also an inconsistancy with bèta’s and demo’s.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

    You are sold!! :)

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

Yes, would like to get some reviews of the major new stuff in the major sims. Like the rF2 new Vette and tracks like Top Gear and most of all Lime Rock! :)

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

I think this was a good review, I would personally have been more positive and pumped up after driving the tech preview when IMO it actually lives up to the rather huge hype. But they did a good impartial job looking at the key strong points.

Tire model and traction fidelity is unmatched IMO

    Always enjoy the ISR shows

Come on man, its not poverty. Starving children in Africa with no clean drinking wanter or bricks and mortar is poverty.
This is a 5 euro game and any sim-racer who bought a PC and a wheel should be able to find if they wanted to.

  • Anonymous

No, poverty is not confined to starving children. There’s relative poverty……

But anyway – you understand £5 is a lot to someone in Africa, right? This attitude that “it’s nothing” stinks. If it’s so little, why do they insist on having it? Not that it’s down to Kunos to challenge world capitalism…..but there ya go.

  • Anonymous

Yeah – I’m hungry. So seeing privileged comfortable people with £000s of gear chiding people for not having £5 is a bit ….rich.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Well if it’s relative then compared to the price of a PC, monitor, steering wheel, pedals, speakers etc… it’s nothing.
I’m not into this relative poverty idea. By that logic, is a man with £1million in a room with other men who are multi-billionaires, an example of poverty ?

£5 is a lot to someone in Africa, but no-ones suggesting they buy NetKarPro.

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

I can’t believe poverty (of any sort) is even being brought up here.

If you can’t afford this $5 now, there isn’t even any point of you accessing the tech preview is there? As you won’t be able to afford the full game once it releases without starving yourself for a whole month or two?

Relative poverty on dual core processors and $150 graphics cards monitors? Seriously? lol Yeah I can laugh, because I’ve been there, and sim racing and/or games were the least of my worries.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

You’re hungry but you can manage to pay your ISP to be on the net? A grim reality might be to change your priorities. But I don’t know your personal situation so really I am not qualified to comment on it, but just a thought. I mean if you’re going to make this about you…

  • http://s1.zetaboards.com/SimSkinsByDen/index/ PetrolheadDen

Ah, so THAT’s it! Fanatec thing all over again, lol. Darin makes himself a pariah at iRacing so needs a replacement. Well, still not going to watch it and eagerly await a review by someone reliable and who’s opinion we can trust.

  • http://s1.zetaboards.com/SimSkinsByDen/index/ PetrolheadDen

Well, it is after all just a Youtube “show” so one can’t take it too seriously anyways. I do however agree with you.

  • Anonymous

Chill out Gandi. If u don’t wanna pay 5 euro’s for a great sim why even bother testing AC wich will probably be like 50 euro’s. Poor ppl should be worried about other things then the next sim techdemo. Sorry to say but that’s the harsh reality. Their are alot of ppl who can’t afford what other ppl have. That’s life…

  • Anonymous

    Cool attitude.

    Or is it?

  • Anonymous

ah – harsh reality. well, there we go. better not to mention it.

  • Anonymous

No, better not to actually mention real poverty. Just forget about it.

  • Anonymous

No – it isn’t about me. Enjoy. lol lol lol.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Do you have NKPro Curt ?

  • Slow Motion

One point very important on my side is what you feel at first
approach and I found only positive points: easy and really
    friendly UI.

The look of the UI and how the software “invite and guide” you are
    perfect.

The graphical aspects? We are so at the bottom of the scale of
quality that any other simulator appears beautiful… like this,
but not too much “heavy” like Project Cars… FPS is normal, but
also if it decreases to 50 or 60 fps it is so fluid to looks
    perfect.

And finally, when you stop to look at the car, any little detail
and you wake up, you start to drive and in a while you again think
to dream, but not for the graphics, but for the feeling with the
car, the steering wheel, your hands, eyes and you discover to be
so immersed in driving that this time closing the eyes there is
really a chance to open them and to discover yourself with the
helmet into a true Lotus at Magione!

I never felt the same reaction of a real car into a simulator.
This is, in my opinion, the most important point: look is
important, but the whole “pack” of reactivity, driveability,
immersion, details, sound, etc… is a must and AC is ahead any
    other simulator I ever used.

There is NO ONE CHANCE to compare AC with rFactor2. rFactor2 and ISI
are the prehistory, other simulators maybe will find their
location, but AC brings the future today!

We have only to see if the other 2 mandatory points of the success
of any game will be followed; points that made rFactor1 a giant:

    – the multiplayer stuff… easy to manage and the feeling “to be
not alone on track”. See Netkar-Pro: horrible… see rFactor:
great, you know where the other drivers are, great “monitor” view,
easy, friendly… this is a must for feel to be with other persons

    – the real chance to make mods and tracks in a while and the large
community of rFactor… tools like BTB for tracks… in other
words, there are persons that likes to drive and other persons
that like to crate mods, tracks, tools… the winning alchemy is
to give any possible help to have all this features growing with
the community. I know this means to have not all mods perfect as
well as several tracks very poor… but people have enough skills
to be able to select mods and tracks. It is much better to have
hundreds mods and thousands tracks where only tens are great, that
    nothing!

Spend Eur. 4.99 NOW, to test the Tech Preview of AC and you will
be taken into the future, believe to me! I don’t know what AC
missed in features, because he is starting now… so only the mind
of the author knows it, but you could write to him…

Go away, Troll. Don’t buy it then and p!ss off.

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

    haha

Whatever man. Virtually every sim racing community I know has charity and fund raising events. Not to mention you have no idea what all of us do (including the ISR team) regarding what we do to do our part for whatever causes we may support with our own cash or time. Every pay check I receive I’m reminded about poverty because that’s partly where my tax goes, social benefits.

Face it, the only reason you brought this up is because YOU don’t want to pay the $5 lmao That my friend sucks, and bringing up peoples misfortunes in an attempt to cover your own ass makes it even worse. This is trolling on a whole new level, even for Virtual R.

  • Vali

“rFactor2 and ISI are the prehistory”

All the rest of the post are NULL because of this. No one will take you seriously with this kind of comments. At least I won’t.

  • Anonymous

No, the point is the people in the video SNEER at those who can’t pay £5 for a mere tech-demo.

And they do so surrounded by 000s of dollars kit – much of which was probably a freebie anyway.
