Assetto Corsa – Pagani Zonda R Announced

As already revealed in SRT’s video interview a few days ago, Kunos Simulazioni has officially announced the Pagani Zonda R for Assetto Corsa.

Making its debut at the Geneva Auto Show in 2007, the Zonda R is powered by a six-litre V12 engine from Mercedes Benz. The car weighs little over 1000 kilos, 15 examples of the car have been built.

The car has become rather popular with racing games as aside from Assetto Corsa, the Zonda R has also been seen in previews of SImbin’s GTR3 and it is already available in Project CARS.

A piece of important information in the announcement is that the Zonda R is planned to be part of the 1.0 version of Assetto Corsa, Kunos is still gunning to release the first version of their new title later this year.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

I have seen some Gamescon footage when the player is on the track selection screen and there is a vln layout selectable. (GP course and Nords Tourist together)…off to go search for it….

Man, I am looking forward to this.

A bit odd to release pictures of the real car with AC logos on them though.

15 real cars .. soon there will be more simulated versions than real ones, or may there are already? :)

It’ll be interesting to see how AC’s version compares to Shift 2 and pCARS version.

Yes, I noticed that in the video as well! Kunos guys said “No picture, no picture” when the guy testing it out browsed the track menu :)

Having the Nordschleife in AC is nothing short of AMAZING, I think AC will be the best overall sim we have ever seen on the PC which can simulate both road and race cars properly! It also really looks the part!

Only thing I’m not sure about are the engine sounds, havent been able to hear them clearly in the noisy videos we have seen so far. Race Room has really set the level HIGH now with their amazing sounds!
