Assetto Corsa – New Spyshots

Kunos Simulazioni has released some new spy shots of their Assetto Corsa title as the company gears up for their presence at the GamesCom expo.

The shots show some new gameplay previews as we get to see two open wheelers in action on one of Kunos’ rigs.

Furthermore, one shot shows off the title’s sleek menu system alongside another new feature as a tablet device can be seen functioning as remote control for Assetto Corsa.

Visitors of the GamesCom in Cologne can try an alpha version Assetto Corsa next week as Kunos will be present at the Acer booth B50 in hall 10.1.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

That vertical menu stuff is horrible, I bet that’ll change.

I’m so disgusted with iRacing’s NTM and with iRacing for changing completely the NTM from one season to the other that I might call it a day this is happening every season and they fix and brake with every new build effecting car bebavior and changing the driving easy season. You also have to throw all your setups out of the window each season as the car’s behaviors becomes completely different. There’s no hope for iRacing’s NTM! I really hope AC can bring it because I need a better sim!

I hope 10 laser scanned tracks is just the start hopefully enough people will support it so Kunos can scan new tracks at a reasonable price for us!

Nice menu, can’t wait, I hope we will see some gameplay from gamescom.

    WHEN ?????????????????????

  • Marcus Reynolds

how can they be spy shots when they are released by the developer ??

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

    Developer works for MI6. ;)

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

We’re in for another spree of great stuff coming eh ?
    Assetto, GTR3, pCARS, rF2

Yes I am bundling pCARS into the mix, I am being optimistic about the upcoming tyre/physics model revamp which could completely change the way pCARS feels and no doubt will be tweaked even more for PC’s.

But to be honest I also have to be optimistic about rF2. There’s things in there that need sorting too and I hope it gets done soon (undercar shadows, the ugly yellowish overdone reflections on the windscreen(personal opinion) ).

Assetto we presume will be good physically because of NetKar so fingers crossed there.
GTR3′s screenshots look amazing and I personally like RACE07 series so anything that improves on that will be good.

Bring em on I`d say – and soon but don’t hurry.

I can see what you’re saying, but surely most real life racing formulae changes spec every year, to the extent that you’re throwing the old setups etc out of the window? Good heavens, I just defended iRacing :-)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

The Gamescom footage and reports on AC are something I’m really looking forward to. It’s still in alpha so I’m guessing a 2012 release is out of the question?

Actually the way things are going, it could be that we are going to go out of this year with all the new sim titles still in alpha/beta.

At least we can already play around with two of them.

How about an open beta Kunos? Would be happy to pay for the privilege.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Actually that’s a good point. Real world racing tyres evolve too. Or completely change like when F1 switched from Bridgestone to Pirellis.

  • Big Ron

    I like the menu design.

  • Alejandro Gorgal

Yeah, simple and pretty. Also cool to see it running on a tablet.

  • daz

Didn’t SimBin say there was no confirmation of GTR3 and there seems to be more chance that the previous shots we have seen will be from Race Room Experience.

As for AC… it’s looking superly good in these previews.

  • http://www.facebook.com/spacekadam Adam Špaček

When I looked on spyshot featuring AC main menu (that I like very much), I realized how bad rF2s UI looks in comparison. Really, I wonder if it is so hard to make nice looking UI?
(to stop all the trolls accusing me of throwing sh*t on rF2 – I bought it, I am big fan of it and I love the physics)

  • http://www.facebook.com/alan.dallas.1 Alan Dallas

    Yup…
Oh, and I forgot which F1 team guy I read this about, but he mentioned off hand when the switch was announced “I’d rather Have Pir-stickies than Slipstones any day.” It caught my attention because I remeber thinking, “I thought I was the only one that called them Slipstones?”

  • http://www.facebook.com/alan.dallas.1 Alan Dallas

I tell you what… next year is going to be a serious pain in the back side with all these new Top quality sims coming out.

No literally, I can see way more hours spent in the old sim rig. It’s not going to do my butt any favors. :-D

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Did they ? Well that would be a bit of a shame. I’d much prefer to see GTR3 happen. oh well.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I remember having Pirelli’s on a car I had. Gripped like hell but wore out fast. Softer rubber I guess. Not that anyone is interested but I’m running on Avon ZZ3′s now :) Don’t think I`ll get Pirelli’s again.

  • http://twitter.com/SuperRantam Rantam

Yep, as anything else in life: is hard to make a nice looking UI. I guess ISI just prefers to focus their efforts in other aspects of the sim. But being the UI of rF2 customizable you can give it a try! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/paul.menard2 Paul Menard

i havent played iracing for awhile, but yeah setup was very important to feel comfortable, and basicaly not wreck alot. and the fixed setup series had junk setups so you had to spend ages figuring out how to drive that pos setup xD

  • Nathan Robinson

Is it wrong for me to have a tingling in my lower half over this?

  • http://www.facebook.com/spacekadam Adam Špaček

I lack the skill, so I will leave it to professionals/talented ;) I am pretty sure someone will “overhaul” it. Anyway, I didnt mean to sound ungrateful, just thinking aloud…

  • Marco Conti

Whatever Sim will be at the top, it won’t matter to me since I either already have it or I will buy them all.
However, I hope that at least one of them will be tailored for league use which in my mind needs the following features:

    1) Advanced Weather management and multiple tire compounds (along with drying line, etc.). This can be either built in or added on.

    2) Ability to accept new tracks and cars so leagues can create their own mods easily.

    3) Advanced broadcast facilities with replay and multiple cameras.

Of course, there are also many other things, but I think the above would make the sim with those features the pick of any league.

come on F1Racer! One thing is when you have F1 cars full of techonology changing the rules every now and then. But when you got a static car like the Corvette C6R or a Ford Mustang which are of a certain year with a certain tire it’s not supposed to change at all if you got the physics right right?! So when F1 might change once a year iRacing the real training tool changes 4 times a year a static car lol! My main issue isn’t with setups (worth 3 months) but how you have to drive a spec car differently every 3 months!

  • Anonymous

nothing beats Michelin they are more expensive but if you calculate miles x price tag you get much more from your money with Michelin and less punctures. Not to mention with tires safety has to be always first!

  • Anonymous

Ya Right fricken April Fools. They have always had the intention of all the features of RaceRoom fully functionable. Don’t know if I like the idea Free to Play those are expensive LOL. As for GTR3 I don’t think that SimBim would slap us upside our heads like that and lead us on to this degree. If so I will have to write Mr. Ekkel a very long message with my displeasure over it.

  • Anonymous

Just go to http://www.gtr3.com and enjoy some pretty damn good sounds, and while at it you can see some smartly covered screenshots that dont show much but just enough to keep you warm in a cold december month!
Remember this with the Teaser Sound Files it does say gtr3.com so if they have mislead us that bad over doing a GTR3 title that may just be the end of them. Have Faith they are doing 2 projects.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1711429307 Chris Wright

Or looked at another way, if iRacing actually had anything resembling weather simulation, you’d be chopping and changing your setups the whole time.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Did you just describe rFactor 2 (and GP4) :)

But yeah it would be nice to have some rain and then switch from slicks to wet tyres and get out there, only to find it drying up then having to stick to the wet parts of the track to stop the tyres overheating before timing your call to pit again for dries. I love all that stuff.

Assetto is going to have dynamic weather right ? But not in the first final build, am I correct ?

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yep, Ive had Michelins on before. It’s certainly an option. My front tyres are almost shot right now but my rears are perfect so I`d hate to change all 4. So I end up buying 2 more Avons so they all match.
But yeah, I would definately consider Michelins. I had no issues with them.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Well it is true, I was thinking of F1 when I made that comment :)

But I think if the devs change the tyre model and it is to improve it over the current one and make it what they consider to be, more accurate, then surely as sim-racers we should embrace that and just bit the bullet when it comes to changing setups again.

    From previous news:

“Speaking of the release, Kunos is still gunning to release the first
version in late 2012. The team is planing on releasing a technology
preview later this year, featuring one car & one track. Not meant to
be a traditional demo, the preview will be used to test the new DirectX
11 graphics engine on a variety of systems before releasing the first
    versions.”

Compared to what gives some people tingles in this debauched society, I think it’s pretty harmless.

Is that a tablet on the 4th image ?
Some sort of second screen or something ?

  • http://www.facebook.com/SaFalken Tom Coombs

I am SO glad I chose to upgrade my PC last week! Roll on the system demanding sims! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/fabio.pittol Fabio Pittol

It isn’t hard to create a decent UI. You just need to hire someone good to do the job. UI Design is a carrer, even more nowadays with tons of apps for mobile devices!

BTW, the rF2 UI system is so chaotic to customize it’s better to leave that way! lol

  • Anonymous

The ACO and IMSA change the balance of performance on their cars between every race, including base weight, engine restrictors, fuel cell size, wing height, etc. Also, since there’s a tire war in LMS you even get different tires every race.

Personally, I think it balances out compared to dynamic temperature, wind, track conditions, etc. If changing a setup 4x a year is too much for you, I can just imagine your opinion on weather variations.

  • http://twitter.com/WallyMasterson Wally Masterson

Re AC weather, you’re right: I have read that it will have dynamic weather but not in the first release.

  • Anonymous

netkar pro is still better than rf2 for physics. Has better ffb, better UI (still), more realistic handling, better feel, better everything, versus rf2 beta. (arguably netkar pro was never finished).

so…if netkar pro is still better than rf2, imagine how good AC is going to be.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Are you stating that as a fact or an opinion, cos it doesn’t say ?

  • General Rush Hour

of course you are bundling PCARS in the mix.

How could anyone expect less from a PCARS affiliated site?
I could have taken my finger and played with it in the sand and come up with the same obvious conclusion.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Angus944 Anthony Birch

What about support for Drag Racing, especially support for a christmas tree with handicapped timing

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Why can’t you once reply to me with a little bit more respect !
Your tainted view of this site just shows your ignorance. Maybe you are the last to know or understand this, but Rob works for SMS doing web stuff I think, and continues to run this site. This site came first and just because he works there doesn’t mean this site suddenly becomes biased. Although I can understand the feeble minded jumping to that conclusion.
As for me, I don’t work there. So I have zero affiliation at all and my comments are my own and are not affected by where Rob works.

If you can’t get past that, then either leave or take my advice and drop it.
