Assetto Corsa – New Content Teaser & Info

Kunos Simulazioni has hinted at the next licensing announcement for their upcoming Assetto Corsa title, tweeting out two detail photos of a car that will be available in the simulation.

Sports car racing fanatics will probably recognize the tail light as it shows the Ferrari-powered P4/5 Competizione.

Build by James Glickenhaus, the car is a one of its kind creation powered by a Ferrari V8 engine putting out 450hp. The P4/5 competed in the 2011 Nürburgring 24 Hours, finishing in 39th place overall.

Furthermore, the guys over at Speedmaniacs have revealed some interesting details regarding the upcoming title. The guys confirm that Assetto Corsa will feature ten tracks, two of which have already been revealed (Magione & Monza).

Also, Kunos confirms that Assetto Corsa will use neither a subscription model or online account fee as the title will sell for a fixed price and offer unlimited free multiplayer. The studio hasn’t decided on whether DLC content post-release will be available for free though.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

Simply amazing… I’ll definitely going to dedicate myself to Assetto Corsa for the next 2 decades if the details of the content stays the same… looking forward to it!

Everyday im kinda like this O_O with Kunos!
No subscription? I thought that AC would be too good to be true lol

I knew that Kunos was God..now i understand that has a human side also :D

Anyway,i hope they have login or something cause i dont want to see any crack for Assetto Corsa.
For me Assetto Corsa its like..some people sat down and started to make a sim with everything inside..a sim for 2012..a sim for us..

After NetKar PRO,FVA,now the AC…Seeing all these from this team i want to support them more and more day by day..whatever the price of AC will be*..

*I dont like these kind of exprestions but i still feel that i stole NetKar PRO..

So much sim racing awesomeness. How am I supposed to give all these sims the time they deserve? :)

The extensive modding support (depending on how extensive it is) will be what will take AC to levels other games have not reached. If Kunos does offer a DX11 moddable game, I can see the bulk of the modding world leaving the current games they work on to go to AC. But that will also highly depend on the moddability of the game and the ease. Lots of good games coming out in the future. Exciting times for the sim-racing world ahead!

  • Matt Orr

    Yup.

  • Juhan Voolaid

Are such extreme levels of details really needed for a racing sim?

  • sbbr87

Regarding the immersion: yes ;) But I always rate grapics not as the important thing…

Nurburgring GP and Vallelunga track, mugello track Will probably be in Asseto corsa game

now interested. This machine will be in GTR3 in this simulator. I wonder who will make the best simulator?

Am i the only one who believes that NetKar Pro is an unfinished product? (and yet the best sim out there)

I guess that AC is also getting their hands on the Ferrari P4/5!

Finally, a sensible dev who doesn’t go the free 2 play or subscribtion route.
    Kudos to you… Kunos :D

Talk about having your cake and eating it.

  • Luke Russell

Having a brand spanking new DX11 graphics engine is the cherry on the top for me. Since my eyes drew upon A.C, I found it hard to get myself immersed in iRacing with it’s low poly count and texture resolution.

  • steve farrell

Have you been under a rock lately? A lot of complaints lately is about graphics not gameplay

  • Eric Zehnder

I can see why Kunos decided on a full retail price. If people are going to play your game they’ll be willing to purchase it outright. SMS recently announced they’re moving pCARS to a regular full purchase price as well. It’s not a very good experience if you are constantly shelling out more money for content on top of “server costs”.

iRacing does this and it’s the reason I don’t play that sim.

  • Eric Zehnder

I had no problem with crappy graphics in the late 90′s when that was all that was available. Once graphics like this are available while still not compromising gameplay/physics/experience then there’s no reason not to. When you have a choice between two great sims but one looks amazing and the other looks highly dated (all else being essentially equal), you’re going to go for the one that looks amazing, yes?

  • Eric Zehnder

Unfinished? Probably. I recently did a post about how it looks like Kunos’ recent products have just been leading to a proper, full retail game that pulls from his previous experience. As a game netKar leaves a lot to be desired but it certainly looks like Assetto Corsa is shaping up extremely nicely!

Of course you understand that iRacing’s subscription model is to run all online services including the servers to run the races on, right?

So in essence, every other title moves that cost to the users to run online races. The cost remains, it is just transfered directly to the server host.

  • jswarthoff

is this level of detail only possible with dx11?

  • Anonymous

Yes, and we see this result in paying for what you get with the online components. RF2 has a small yearly fee for keeping your mods straight within the server browser. I don’t see big, full featured online components like iRacing without a subscription fee, so it’s all about whether you want that or not.

This level of detail is possible with a camera. :D

The two images of this post are real photos.

Unfinished, yes but if this is the quality of an unfinished product, I think we will all be blown away by AC.
I will not be spending my cash on release day tho.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Siggers Ross Siggers

wow, who DOESN’T have the P4/5…

  • Anonymous

how cheap are these cars to license?

seems every game now has same content

  • Anonymous

Is this true? I can’t make it out, the tyre that it is the 2nd shot looks like it’s from a game engine or rendered. But the small writing that can be seen on the light looks real. Dam my eyes are too used to DX11 these days that it’s easy to mistake a game and real life screen.

  • http://www.facebook.com/nicolas.grignon Nicolas Grignon

nice photos… now, how about some ingame screens? or even better, a ingame video teaser? ;-)

  • Ricoo

     Probably Imola too

  • http://www.competauto.com/ Theroro29

Indeed, i forget It! Pictures of Imola have already been published.

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

Yes of course, but for the sake of the argument, NO TWO SIMS have “all else being equal” ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/fabio.pittol Fabio Pittol

Actually depends a lot on the company’s policy. Some of them like to support those kind of things, some others doesn’t care at all. That’s the main reason we never see some cars in any game/simulator and at the same time we see cars like P4/5 and Pagani Zonda everywhere.

  • Luke Russell

The article which VirtualR got their information from only list 7 tracks included in 1.0 release. Below are my picks on what the 7 circuits will be.

    Magione (Already known)
    Monza (Already known)
    Imola (Shown in A.C trailer)
    Vallelunga (Shown in A.C trailer)
Mugello (Scanned for FVA. I.P owned by K.S?)
Fiorano – Hope I’m wrong about this one because it’s a test track, way to narrow to race cars on (Scanned for FVA. I.P owned by K.S?)
Nurburgring (Scanned for FVA. I.P owned by K.S?)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Diego-Colafabio/644649048 Diego Colafabio

     Monza too :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/jcruze88 Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

I’ve got my fingers crossed Spa is in there. Although I suppose if the game truly is mod friendly then it will eventually be in there at some stage.

  • Luke Russell

Coming from iRacing, you just can’t beat laser scanned tracks. For me, it’s now painful to drive on anything else so I wont be holding my breath for mod tracks…

Spa would be a great track to get because we could directly compair it with iRacing’s version and find out just how good the scanning equipment K.S use is.
