Assetto Corsa – First Tech Demo Teaser

Kunos Simulazioni’s Marco Massarutto has released a little teaser of the upcoming Assetto Corsa tech demo.

The photo shows half a screenshot of the Tech Demo in action, showing off an empty track. While the venue has already been confirmed to be the Circuito de Magione, the car that will be available in the Tech Demo is yet  to be unveiled.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

Assetto Corsa will be available in Q1 2013, the title will feature licensed cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW & Lotus. Assetto Corsa is set to be released in Q1 2013, a first “technology preview” demo is due to be out in a few weeks.

Ok, now I really must find what the guys at Kunos like and eagerly waiting, to tease them few times a week with images, videos, you name it… REVENGE! :D

    Killing me softly with teasers

  • GamerMuscle

I can picture the guys at kunos giggling like school girls whilst posting this image.

Oh come on !! This is torture ! :)

Well at least we know we will be getting a track with a corner on it. Phew!

Speaking of Magione, cool footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ1SoEFb5-8

This guy has a lot of cool historical circuit footage that he filmed back in the day!

Now if only you could go through the barriers like in that video hahaa. Only sim i’ve seen where you can do anything like that is RBR – though i think that is only the wooden fences and not armco?
I wonder if any of the more arcade titles like dirt or shift let you? I haven’t really played them as they don’t interest me, the physics being really strange.

  • Anonymous

Seems iRacing just started working on solid body objects lining the track. Seems like that would be able to handle those little water filled barriers and tire piles and such.

Is it just me or does this title seem to have been in development forever. Time, surely, for us all to see how good it really is.

  • speed1

Cmon guys should this be a joke or needs VirtualR only a little traffic ?

  • WaitingForAC

Yeah in like 10 years maybe. And it will probably be delayed by then. Why do you keep insisting on bringing up iRacing “seeming” to be able to do things when they prove time and time again that they can’t or will delay it for content?

  • Marco Conti

It’s “Circuito di Magione” not “de magione”. It’s not that I want to be a grammar nazi (or “grammar fascist” this being Italian and all) but it really sounds bad to us Italians. No offense.

Now I am curious to see where my own grammar/spelling error is in my post.

  • Anonymous

not that bad as you try it to be. there are many Italian names which use de and not di although di is more common.

  • pilotf1

“Assetto Corsa is set to be released in Q1 2013, a first “technology preview” demo is due to be out in a few weeks”

Ehm….in a few feeks there is the tech demo…maybe mid/end february. And then…only 3 weeks later release of the full game?!
I dont wanna be too negative but in spite of a lot of stills and some very short movies we havent seen some representative footage, do we?

Shame on me….but i dont think that we can play it until summer….

  • Anonymous

Yeah, I don’t expect it soon. But if iRacing is working on the tech to do it, why not AC as well? Hell, why not every sim? I think pCARS has something like this already, and personally it should become a standard feature in racing sims within the next few years. Vital especially for touring cars where you see tire piles at the apexes of corners that simply must move when tapped.

omg kunos, don’t spoil all of it!!

I am slowly starting to hate this sim because of the million teaser-demo’s beta-preview’s movies pre-preview prologue alpha screenshots…. :-) Like F1racer says this is just torture…

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.hornbuckle1 Michael Hornbuckle

Although we all want it to hurry up and be out, a year to a year and a half development isn’t that long…look how long it takes a new Grand Theft Auto game to come out

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

I like these guys! I just can’t help it.

  • Slow Pilot

IIBC, the first teasing info from KS came out in late 2011. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Anonymous

And sadly we know the result of that….poor sounds poor graphics and poor online support.

This is what you’re looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MUHl52S8a4

  • Nathan Robinson

Lol, seriously. I hope nobody is getting their rocks off from this little picture. Id be ashamed to post this as news :P

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I can’t speak for anyone else but I am just anticipating the release as I assume most of us are.

I dunno about ashamed, it’s just a bit of light fun really. Maybe you should lighten up a little too.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRoggan Roger

There has been quite a lot of “gameplay” videos from Gamescon with various cars.

I agree the time plan is a bit optimistic but from what I’ve seen so far it looks very solid.Just getting 1 car and 1 track ready with some basic UI’s shouldnt be that tricky.

If the full sim as they are mentioning will appear within 2 months of that I agree remains to be seen. Regardless of when we get it it I’m really looking forward to it! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/Jim.Cassi Jim Slimjim Cassi

Well i think they will have a lot of impressing to do, with all the hype that is building for this sim, I just hope many of us are not let down

  • http://twitter.com/itsme48409789 itsme

Looks like they are afraid of something or looking for some good moment on the market for better start or something. Come on guys, we are buying it just for the great graphics alone

Yeah expectations for AC are insanely high. Don’t think any other sim in history was awaited with such expectations – don’t remember a single post saying “AC will probably suck at X”. Whilst there are thousands of people who think pC will suck at physics, rF2 will suck at graphics, R3E will suck at amount of features etc. Since I don’t want to be let down myself I try to be realistic and do not expect AC will be that great in all areas, that’s just not possible (yet, who knows how sims will advance in next 10 years)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Marco-Massarutto/1651916137 Marco Massarutto

Well, I can’t stop to laugh watching this video, even because it looks like the track hasn’t been changed a lot since those days.. maybe the cars.. :P Jokes apart, I’m pretty sure Magione will reserve you a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing ;)

  • http://twitter.com/Olaraitraitrai Ramalho

Yeah it is really awesome to see this kind of videos from those days…. . Great to see people sharing old memories.

PS: Really!!?? Watching videos on youtube when you can play AC??? ahaha :P

  • Nathan Robinson

Thats where people are different i guess. I find no humor in it, sorry. I click on these thinking there may be something worthwhile and it is just a shot of a monitor, half cut out, with the words tech preview on the corner. Hardy fng har. Dont be so sensitive.

  • speed1

I want to be honest. This is the only sim which I most expect because I know netkar pro and have a feeling it won’t disappoint me.
Apart from the fact that i love Italians and I know their love for cars. I’m already more than 20 years working on cars and a engineer and know what I’m talking about. Kunos please do not disappoint me. I put great trust in you.

  • Marco Conti

Well, you are partly right, but while the preposition “di” means “of” and we have “The circuit of Magione” , “de” is a shortened and archaic form of “del” meaning (more or less) “From”. So you will hear names like “De Agostini”, which means “Of the house of the Agostini”.

Italian prepositions are actually the easiest to learn if you memorize this: “Di, a, da, in, con, su, per, tra, fra”, often recited as “diadainconsupertrafra” as a mnemonic excercise.

Interestingly, there are plenty of Italian dialects where saying “Circuito der Magione” would be not only correct but preferable (with the “r” after the “De” almost silent).
But there are hundreds of Italian Dialects that I understand far less than I do Spanish or French and we cannot use them as a paragon for proper Italian. Where I to pronounce the name in my dialect it would actually be “Er Circuito der Maggione” with the double gg, the different preposition and “Er” instead of “il” as an article.

Don’t worry princess, Asetto Corsa will be here soon then daddy’s little girl can play all day and be less sensitive herself when it comes to little teasers that at least keep the community interested in the project.

..would be another version of ‘light humour’ as talked about by F1Racer.

    I like light humour.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Hah! I’m the sensitive one ? Brilliant.

  • Anonymous

cool Marco thanks for the Italian class hehe! I pay you an espresso some day! btw I know in portuguese of and from are both de.

  • Anonymous

PR-wise, I can’t tell if Kunos is horrible at preparing for the launch of a title or brilliant.

  • Anonymous

    That’d be “offence” not “offense”.

Offense is from the corrupted form of English called ‘American English’. Offence is English, and so it’s the correct (and much preferred) version. ;)

  • Ron Sandrin

While we’re on the subject… I’m sure Marco will agree that there is only one way to pronounce Lamborghini!… Although I’m very happy where I live, the majority of people insist on pronouncing this legendary name as: Lamborginie – as in gin and tonic. I’ve done my best but there are still so many souls to be converted..:)
