Assetto Corsa – Bonus DLC Pack Unveiled

Kunos Simulazioni has confirmed the content of the upcoming free bonus DLC pack for Assetto Corsa.

Kunos Simulazioni has confirmed the content of the upcoming free bonus DLC pack for Assetto Corsa.

As rumored before, the pack will include five brand new cars as well as a new track – The Dutch Circuit Park Zandvoort.

Bonus DLC Pack Included Cars

  • Alfa Romeo Mito Quadrifoglio Verde
  • Audi Sport Quattro
  • Lamborghini Miura
  • Nissan Nismo GT-R
  • Toyota GT-86

The Bonus pack continues Kunos’ focus on adding road car machinery to their simulation, a decision that’s likely influenced by the title’s upcoming 2016 console release.

The Bonus DLC pack will be a available free of charge for Assetto Corsa owners, coming as part of the 1.2 version release that is scheduled to be out in July.

  • Betta Lines

Ahhh… I’ll buy it at a high price!

    • Chris

You did read free in the 1st sentence right?

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

He might have meant that if it was not free he’s still buy it.

      • Betta Lines

It was a silly Resident Evil 4 reference πŸ™‚

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

        oh πŸ™‚ Haven’t played that.

      • the_meco

When ever I see something I like that’s the voice I hear in my head.

    • BackMarker

It is such an awesome pack that you should buy two!
      ; )

  • Marc Collins

Thanks, Kunos!!! Looks great and since it’s free, I have no complaints about the selection of vehicles.

  • Dylan H.

Yes! The Nissan Nismo! Good times for racesims.

  • http://batman-news.com Leeman

Really looking forward to Zandvoort. This sim is sorely lacking in the circuit department so any popular track is welcome. Not thrilled with the car list, but that’s fine.

  • Damo

The Miura is stunning, I’m so glad Kunos decided to support modders in this way it’s really good to see. Look at the detail in those wheels ffs! Looking forward to Zandvoort especially.

    • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Agreed. It’s really nice that the devs recognise such great modding work to the point where it becomes official content. Good stuff from both parties.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

The DLC is great but I hope the AI has been improved to the point of making offline races worth actually racing with. That’s the biggest downside in AC for me.

    • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi-A0ySrNfn1dUOahWZvmnA KamyKazeRacing

No AI Changes expected this patch. They are focusing in MP.

That’s what they said on forums and over at twitter.

      • Marco Hooghuis

        Bummer πŸ™

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

That’s pretty crappy and disappointing. Content over functionality.
Oh well, guess it will have to stay as a pretty hotlapper for quite a while longer. Maybe decent AI is proving too much of a challenge.

      • Nesho Kasapov

That’s kinda the route every sim developer is taking nowadays, isn’t it? Doesn’t seem fair to single out Kunos for it..

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I wasn’t really singling Kunos out. But this is an AC related article.

      • svdb

In AC’s defense, the AI in say, Project Cars is not very convincing either for me (constantly bumping others). In AC it’s a nice challenge to race the GT3s in a Evora GTE. The AI at 100% is not slow, but overtaking is an issue.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

It’s maybe not so much their intelligence (for want of a better word), but how, in races, you have 1 or 2 cars racing of in the lead ahead of others (if you’re not ahead of them) and AI cars not really making too much of an effort to get past you or re-pass you once you get through.

For example, lets say I spend 2-3 laps catching and then passing a car…. so it’s taken me a little while to actually do that. Once I’m passed he can’t stay with me and the rate I pull away is far greater than it was to catch him.

        That sort of thing.

TBH, how pCARS AI might be isn’t really relevant or a defense because it doesn’t help AC’s AI at all.

      • Jackson P.

No! Content development and feature development are completely separated! It’s not one over the other, they’re done by two different groups of people….

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yes but the thing is that we’re not seeing the functionality coming out in patches! Just content !
So the ‘other group’ needs to get a move on !

      • Jackson P.

We’re not seeing functionality where you want to see it….many things have been added or improved, but since you’re solely focussing on MP and AI, you haven’t noticed….

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Why are you starting to get touchy ? Am I not allowed to say that I think the AI needs improving too ?
Of course it’s going to be about what I want to see. When do any of us talk about what others want to see and not themselves ?
But I don’t think I’m the only person that want’s to see better AI either Not by a long chalk.
I’m not focusing on MP at all. I don’t touch MP in Assetto Corsa.

So yes I have noticed ALL the other improvements. I have read each and every one of the changelogs. But the AI is still not there regardless of any other improvements that have happened so far.

      • QUF

You forgot that when they release a content pack they also release game updates?

      • Michael Hornbuckle

There have been a hell of a lot more patches than content, actually. Go into your AC folder and open the changelog and compare that with the one content pack that has been sold.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I am not debating how many patches there have been. There could have been 1000 patches and zero content and I would still say that the AI needs refining.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

But that isn’t what you said.

Quote ” we’re not seeing the functionality coming out in patches! Just content”

I think the changelog shows that there has been quite a bit more functionality released than content; Better AI, better MP, more tracks, and world peace would all be great though for sure.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I should have worded that better. Replace “in patches” with “in this patch”.

      • Paul Maguire

And I’m disappointed when they spend time improving AI over MP. Each to their own πŸ˜›

      • IceVioletteDevil

Wow, couldn’t have said it better myself. Crappy and disappointing is exactly what that is.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

But I was referring only to the fact that there are no AI improvements in the next patch. Not AC in general.

      • IceVioletteDevil

And I was referring to you referring to the lack of AI improvements. πŸ™‚

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Glad we got that cleared up.

      • flitzi

Focus is on MP (which I prefer, yay) but I’ve heard there will be minor improvents on the AI, it might be a tad more agressive (hopefully not pCARS like) and is faster from the line.
I actually prefer a more defensive AI over an AI that strictly drives it’s line, especially if the line is through my car πŸ˜‰

    • itsmedave

Couldn’t agree more. Loving my $50 hotlappers I’ve bought on Steam πŸ™

    • Bakkster

I’m still waiting for proper Rift support to load it back up.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

When a proper consumer version of the Rift is available, there will be proper rift support. Or Morpheus. Or the Valve version. At least one of them for sure.

      • Bakkster

I don’t blame them for waiting, just not interesting to me to try again until then. Similar reason why I’m playing more E:D than iRacing, it just works better.

  • TouringProSeries.com

Road cars. Uninteresting. Despite a few icons.

  • Slawek

I am probably more interested what changes the update brings but thank you anyway πŸ™‚

    • Marco Hooghuis

Don’t underestimate Zandvoort, it’s a really nice track.

  • Marco Hooghuis

Does anybody know if this Zandvoort is laser-scanned?

    • QUF

Yes, they announced it as laser-scanned. At this point, I doubt they’ll focus their time on licensed tracks without being laser-scanned. Exception is trento-bondone, which was a conversion from their other previous game, netkar pro.

      • Marco Hooghuis

Cool, then it’ll give the version of iRacing a run for its money.

  • todemanjack

Wish some sim would make an accurate version of COTA. Elevation changes and camber make this a fun track. rFactor’s mod is pretty bad, I think. What about it Kunos? Planning any American tracks?

    • Marco Hooghuis

I agree, it’s too European at the moment (coming from an actual European).

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

I wouldn’t mind seeing Road America and Sebring also.

      • Marco Hooghuis

        Or Barber, very underrated.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

        Who’s underrating it ? Let’s get ’em !! πŸ™‚

Maybe lets a lesser known track. I think I have hard of it recently but it’s not one I`d have been able to list if I was asked to name 10 US racetracks.

      • ftrracingtv
      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Not sure that will work with AC πŸ™‚ But thanks for the rf2 link anyway πŸ™‚

    • faybn

      Well, there is one: Iracing.

      • todemanjack

Haha. One I don’t need to sell my soul to get?

      • BackMarker

        oh, stop being so dramatic!
        : )

enjoy your daily $3 starbucks coffee!
        ; )

      • pastor_tedhaggard

invalid argument. iracing prices are absurd, end of.
despite having spent about 300$ in it myself over the years, i recently joined again for a month and can’t join anything in class B or C, unless i want to spend another $100. Total joke.

      • S- mann

i a multicar session you only have to have 1 of the cars , for the rest you only have to load all available downloads and you can go.

      • pastor_tedhaggard

okkkaayy, almost 9pm, time for some primetime iracing. Oh …. wait………..http://i.imgur.com/XGImVe7.png
and on top of that – the 3 races that i’m most likely to enter, because they are the shortest (in iracing world anyway), they schedule them at the same time, so i can’t even finish one and jump straight into another. Brilliant. Welcome to iracing.

      • S- mann

yeh complain further pastor pray to him that they scedule all races only suitable for your time , have fun

      • pastor_tedhaggard

you clearly didn’t read what i said, or do not have the ability to understand things – which is it?

      • BackMarker

what is your name on iracing?

      • Bakkster

Thought you said you couldn’t race anything C or B class, when you have options for each on opposite hours.

      • BackMarker

        No
        : )

      • Chris Wright

So true and it amazes me that they’ve been able to sustain the model.

      • Bakkster

It’s because people find value in it. The prices are higher, but that’s because people found it’s as much more valuable as it is more costly.

      • http://batman-news.com Leeman

        $100? How is that possible?

      • pastor_tedhaggard

scroll down and look at my pic. If i want to compete in events regularly in iracing now, i’d have to buy another 5 odd tracks, and a few more cars. Each track is 12-15 dollars a piece. Each car is 8-10 i think. You get to $100. “you don’t own enough of the tracks” – that is my POINT. Despite having spent over 220$ already on content alone, thats excluding any sub fees, i still don’t own enough to be able to jump in and play now after half a year, unless i want to spend yet another $100.
        That is…….my point.
If i wanted to enter events i have tracks for – i would have no events to enter apart from the rookie cars in D. ANd I don’t want to spend all day driving around an MX5 or a pontiac solstice. Because iracing update the seasons with new content, you have to buy new content simply to race. Otherwise you can’t play. Conclusion – it is a total joke. The only reason i joined for a month was to PM someone on the forum about something. I refuse to spend any more money on it.

      • pastor_tedhaggard

i do own enough of the tracks. that is my point, i’ve spent hundreds of dollars on content and i still don’t own enough of the tracks to compete regularly, because they keep changing circuits and series.

      • todemanjack

I drink my ALDI’s 20 cent a cup instant. Thank you very much. πŸ™‚

      • BackMarker

        liar!
        : )

      • todemanjack

Your right. I figured it out. 8 oz. jar makes 120 cups. cost 3.00. plus cream and spoon of sugar. 30 cents a cup then!

      • BackMarker

        Liar!
        : )

      • Cossack

Wants accurate track representation but doesn’t want to pay for it ….welcome to the real world πŸ˜‰

      • todemanjack

Wants accurate track representation. but doesn’t want to pay for a real track! Come on SMS get COTA, I’ll pay you 10$.

      • j4rgon

$3! pfft real men pay $5 for a large πŸ˜›

      • noroardanto

Real men drink real coffee not starbuck’s ;p

      • RKipker

iracing is 50% off renewal…. right now through June 30th. So get it and renew for a year or two and save over 100 bucks. It’s a great sim to support and once you have it as I do… I always wait for specials like this… iRacing cost me less than 0.28 cents/day for the year. I no longer buy the oval racers… only GT and open wheelers and all tracks… excet oval only.

iRacing also offers me 25% off on all content based on the current content I own. If I were to buy all remaining content at this time I would get a 30% discount.

      • Bakkster

iRacing is also on Steam Sale for a few more days. I think it’s $10 for 6 months, and 14 GBP for a year for new members.

      • ASUSNEX

I wouldnt mind paying full price for that wonderfull
service but I just cant cope with the physicsmodel.

  • Kludger

Nice to see more cars (especially the GT86 and G-TR) hopefully now that they are shooting for console they will also improve the AI and Career, things which they will need to compete on console.

  • Roy Rki

Don’t be surprised if GT-R handles like an arcade. Cos if they model ATTESA right, it should.

    • melanieuk1

So will it have a coin slot, ‘Please Insert Coin’.

      • Marco Hooghuis

And you have to drive it using a dualshock controller πŸ˜›

    • Aaron Carlisle

As someone whose test driven a GT-R (Ended up buying an Evo instead since it was easier on the wallet), I can confirm this. Obviously I didn’t race the damn thing, but I did give it the beans quite a bit and I was astonished as how easy it was to drive. The GT-R is crazy for it’s price bracket.

  • Patrik Marek

all great cars, GT-R, GT86 my favorites, Miura was great and sure will be – but I won’t drive it too much, and Audi looks great, but not sure if it will be “my kind of car”
    cool!

  • Klaas van Houten

Not going to buy this before I’m able to pronounce ‘Quadrifoglio’ correctly.

    • QUF

It basically means four leaf clover. Quadri – foglio, with mute G.

      • Klaas van Houten

That easy? Guess I have no other choice than to buy it now πŸ™‚

      • Hurdy Hurdy

You’ve obviously missed the bit in the article where it says:-

        upcoming free bonus DLC pack

      • Klaas van Houten

Oops…but what if I want to pay for it?

    • Freddie Seng

don’t worry you won’t even have to spend a single cent anyway :3

    • Michael Hornbuckle

I’m glad it is free because I will probably never be able to pronounce that correctly.

  • ImageArtSigns .

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t there already a Miura (Mod) and Nissan GTR in game?

    • QUF

Nissan gtr gt3 from the dreampack. This one is the street version, which came before the GT3 spec.

Miura started as a mod, which then got included in the batch of cars licensed from Lamborghini, so all the mod developments stopped, and was then continued internally by Kunos.

      • ImageArtSigns .

Thanks for taking the time to reply…and for the info…great

  • Noel Hibbard

I love the paint flecks. Very impressive texture work.

  • noroardanto

I am looking forward for the Audi and GT86. Miura is fantastic but I’m not sure it will be fun driving it on race tracks. Didn’t we already have the Mito?

  • 2tyred

I wish they’d just group things a bit more naturally, cars by similarity and era.

Instead they’re taking the GT / Forza dlc approach of trying to get something with at least some interest to everyone in each DLC.
The problem with that is i just get turned off by it – what’s the point when i’m only interested in 1, maybe 2 cars in the pack and don’t really care about the circuit?

(Okay if it was historic Zandvoort then that’s a very different story, that’s a really nice track).

But seriously, in this and the last DLC, i’m only interested in the Alfa GTA and the Miura. With possible but less interest in the C9 and the Quattro. Mind you my friend says the C9 was disappointing so i dunno.

I dunno i’d just like developers to commit more to making content that fits together rather than token gesture content.

More commitment to historical content would really help, especially tracks wise.
I dunno, i’d just like something in either the GPL or P&G vein, with a season’s worth of tracks and a grid of comparable cars each with their own pros and cons.

Spec racing just seems so superficial in comparison and makes things feel a bit disposable πŸ™

    • Gui Cramer

I’d love to see more cars that fit together into the same championship, for competition. I loved non-spec series as tracks benefit different cars.

That said, we need more tracks :p.

  • 2tyred

Hooray, the official World Superbike Safety Car! My dreams have come true πŸ˜›

Now for Honda Brands to come would be great too(yes I know of the civic in rf2 and r3e). Japanese Cars need better representation as well as a few other regions as far as official content added to these games. I am a big believer in little known or never been done in sim cars and brands. Seems mostly the same stuff is spread over all the titles with an exception of a car or 2 here and there. Old School people have FTMP driven everything already and need a new fix.

  • RapidRefund

So The_Meco must be getting paid 2 of his cars are now Official Content

    • ftrracingtv

      I do hope so

    • the_meco

Yep they paid us for both cars. The payment we received was split between all team members for both cars. The money is nice as it was never expected when we started but having our work included officially is a real honor and makes me very proud πŸ™‚

      • Griphy

Great work from you and the team!
Would you have any updates on the Porsche?

      • the_meco

Thanks! Porsche is going well. I’ve spent a lot of time this week finishing the model, only some details in the engine left then it’s complete, then onto mapping and texturing.

Panky will be looking more at the physics in the coming weeks to fine tune everything.

I know I say it regularly but hopefully it’s not to long to wait. I have a day job as well but currently have a bit of free time so I’m trying to make the most of it.

GT-R fail!! The tail lights in the pictures are the ones of the pre-2014 update

    • Sigmatc

      really ?

      • BenjamΓn Inostroza

        You judge

      • Charles Sami Amyouni

        Yeah true, but – BUT…

Since the tail light effects is using a texture anyways – that’s changeable/mod-able especially when released. So that’s NOT even an issue.

    • QUF

The one from AC looks like the 2015 version. Because of the whole rear model. Look at the exhausts model. http://theawesomer.com/2015-nissan-gt-r-nismo/260240/

edit. ok you were talking only about the tail light, I’ll need to look around more.

    • ftrracingtv

does it really matter in the end its only a tail light

    • Gui Cramer

Isn’t the Z4 GT3 a mix of front end of 2013 and rear end of 2010 or so? No one seems to complain about that.

      • Roy Rki

The most glaring issue with the Z4 is the gap behind the front bumpers and doors. You can see the whole width of the tyre, very obvious

  • QUF

Assetto Corsa in on sale with 30% discount, but why I’m not seeing that info in this piece of news but it is mentioned in the last pcars article “Improved Rain Effects Videos”, with reference to 25% discount and a link to the store page. ?

    • Robert Every

      Isn’t it obvious?
This is free stuff for a game that was on sale for a day. If you do not know by now why this is not linked, you never will!

      • RapidRefund

Well I agree with you that every game showcased on this site should be linked

      • QUF

AC has been on sale since the beginning of the steam summer sale, as well as pcars. AC even had 48h of 50% discount. But virtualr didn’t even mention the 30% discount. But they paste such information of 25% discount with a link to steam store page, about project cars.

Does that point out to bias or mistake? If is mistake, then it should be corrected. If they don’t want to do it, well, is kinda like bias and they shouldn’t take the offensive side, because I’m pointing here an objective fact. Two games with steam discount, only one game is advertised as being discounted in the summer sale.
Something isn’t fair about how the other game is represented, given they are in the same genre and market.

      • Al_D

Lets just say money talks on this capitalist world we live in. We cant do much about it unless you want to get in a fight or an argument. πŸ™‚ just sayimg.

      • punkfest2000

        Life…isn’t…fair.

      • QUF

There’s no fair or unfair. There’s bias. And I’m not speaking subjectively trying to imply something, but this is a very objective case with objective observations. Two sim racing games in the same market competition and on steam sale, both featured on virtualr, but only pcars is announced as being on sale and a link to the store page.

It was a mistake from the news creator? It hasn’t been fixed in more than 2 days.

      • punkfest2000

Ok let’s say there is no mistake. Let’s say there is bias. Life goes on.

I don’t know what you hope to achieve here all these weeks. Go to a different site if you aren’t happy. Owners are under no obligation to please you specifically with their content. No laws have been broken, no crime has occurred. I love this site, and it’s content, exactly the way it is. If you aren’t happy I’m sorry, but move on and quit bitching about it.

      • QUF

I can accept if there is bias. But then I know what I’m counting on. Even with bias to pcars I’ll read this website, but then I’ll know what I’m counting on when reading the news.

Why do people complain about that anti-pcars website? Oh yea there’s no problem doing it. Complain about virtualr, ‘they are on their right, everything is natural, no ethics were broken’.
When instead that ‘anti-pcars’ website does investigation ‘journalism’ often putting out videos and screenshot, from which people can take their own conclusion. In fact is not an anti-pcars website, that website talks about many other racing games and their flaws, but just happens to mention what’s currently going on with pcars and what was in its past.

I guess virtualr and that anti-pcars website balance the karma. Yin Yang.

      • punkfest2000

Maybe you should just count on things staying the way they are here. Really no need for you to repeat yourself. How many times can you say the same thing over and over again dude? There is no journalism in sim racing websites.

      • QUF

Over and over? It was just this time and the other, I swear. But here is more justified, since is a pretty objective remark. Both competitor games on sale, only one is advertised as being on sale.

Also why are you trying to silence me and make me change my mind on the things I can point out or not.

If they can repeat the trend of such articles, why can’t I repeat the remarks. They are free to favor a game more than other, and I’m free to point it out. Are we back to censorship times where some try to intimidate others to not speak up?

Yes virtualr are their own owners and can post what they want. If they can post what they want, why should they be afraid of accepting comments as a consequence for the way they treat the different featured sim racing games.

Having liberty to say what you want doesn’t give you the right to force others to shut up and accept your ways. If they don’t care about how they treat the various featured sim racing games, they shouldn’t also be afraid of what people have to say afterwards.

      • punkfest2000

Didn’t you just say you could “accept if there is bias” ? Yeah well do so. Accept it and consider the case closed.

Additionally nobody is “afraid” of what people have to say afterwards. Your own bias has been made clear, your point has been brought up ad nauseam, and after awhile you just become plain annoying with your repetition.

Come to think of it, is there an ignore feature in here? At least that way you can continue parroting on and I can just tune you out. Works well over at Race Department.

      • QUF

Are you an alt account of the virtualr owners or at least of the person who created this news and the other about pcars?

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Please take care with your insinuations.

      • QUF

Is not insinuation. I was asking him if he was part of the staff but under other account. Because the way he phrased “Didn’t you just say you could “accept if there is bias” ? Yeah well do so. Accept it and consider the case closed.” was like he’d be part of the virtualr staff/owners.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yeah so he’d have to maybe be part of the staff to ask you to accept things how they are ?
That insinuates some kind of deceit on the part of VirtualR that his involvement is concealed from you for some reason. Well he isn’t involved with VirtualR any more than you are.
You were insinuating that he could be secretly part of the staff. It’s all getting a little absurd now.

      • punkfest2000

Trust me if I worked here you’d have been tossed out a long time ago. I applaud F1Racer for his patience with you. It’s really a shame that Disqus doesn’t appear to have an ignore feature yet.

      • QUF

What wrong things did I say? Just because I make wrath come out of you doesn’t mean I deserve to be banned. And good that you aren’t a moderator. Because you shouldn’t go on banning people because they disagree with how you do certain things. Even more when I’m not lying. I think what I’ve said so far are valid concerns and can be observed by anyone, despite not everyone wanting to admit it.

I don’t understand why you are revolting against me when I’m simply pointing out certain details such as hiding or not showing sale information about a game and showing it for a game within the same genre and market competition.

The conclusion is that such thing happened, and was admitted that there is (informal) commercial cooperation between virtualr and sms for pcars game. I can accept that just fine, but my struggle so far was seeing people revolt against me for pointing it out.

What’s wrong with this commercial partnership? Nothing at all. But so far it was taboo talking about it. I’ve already talked about it, and they (virtualr) and me (quf) have settled about this subject. I have no more need to point it out, because it came out of the taboo zone and out of the “you’re making a conspiracy theory” zone.

And my initial question was why pcars articles (their content) had some advertising benefits, while other games in the market such as AC didn’t. And they said that Montoya (owner of virtualr website) is employed by SMS (project cars owners), so he can naturally benefit their common product (pcars) with direct advertising inside the news content. And I am fine by that, because it was already answered. I only made a question on this subject to try to find reasons for why this was happening. And now all is well.

      • punkfest2000

It was only answered about 3 years ago.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

You’re being over dramatic here. Talking about how VR ‘treats’ other titles. What you boiling it down to ? That pCARS gets some extra info at the end of it’s articles ? The site admin works at SMS. So why can’t you just accept this as being a possible reason and move on ?
It is his site and if he wants to help his employer a tiny bit then so be it. It’s hardly to the detriment of the other titles.

Not one single missing piece of info in an article has prevented me or stopped me from buying another racing title or their addons. Neither does pcars get the most articles here. So a little perspective if you please.

      • QUF

Again, is not about who has the most articles. AC only gets a higher number is because you also inform about new mods. Without the mods, there basically wouldn’t be any article about AC besides game updates.

If pcars had modding, you’d also cover that. So modding articles can’t really be questioned.

My problem was seeing inclination towards pcars in terms of how is promoted in this website, in detriment of other featured sim racing games from virtualr.

And yeah, is fine if there is a partnership between pcars and virtualr, meaning you’ll directly advertise the game to potential customers. Nothing against that, you can advertise whatever product you want here. But I was called a “put your tin foil hat on”. When in fact is true that there is advertising partnership between pcars and virtualr.

If you have no problem admitting it, I also have no problem accepting that and move on from this subject.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

First thing you need to do is stop addressing me as ‘you’ when you mean VirtualR. I do not post or have any control over site content. Got that ?

I don’t have to rely on modding articles to keep the statement true that pCARS does not get the most coverage here. Even in the last 20 articles posted here, R3E, which does not have modding, got more posts than pCARS.

“inclination towards” ? Really ? So it’s getting worse is it ?
All through pCARS development and until now things have been the same where pCARS articles are concerned. You are assuming it is to the detriment of other titles but you do not outline how or tell us how you know this. Can you know that sales or interest in a racing title other than pCARS have been adversely affected because pCARS has some extra info on it’s articles ? Are rF2 missing out on sales or is Google perhaps broken in some way ?

As far as I am aware there is no ‘partnership’ between VirtualR and SMS (you said pCARS but I assume you mean SMS). Montoya works for SMS but has his own site (this one) which he has had since before SMS existed. All sims have their news reported here but if he is putting extra info on pCARS articles because he feels it’s what he wants to do as he works there, I don’t find that in the slightest bit unreasonable. In his position I would do the same. If NVidia sponsored my website or regularly gave me work, I would help them out a little in return.
I really don’t see why you have a bee in your bonnet about this. Why don’t you go and talk with ISI, Kunos, Simbin etc. and see if they share your ‘problem’, and if so, what their thoughts are.
It seems to me that if they’re not up in arms about such a small thing, then I don’t know why you should be.

The best thing I think you should do is accept that things are as they are and move on, as you say. You’re making something from VirtualRly nothing.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

So the other website isn’t anti-pcars because it talks down about other racing games ? OK fine. Then you can’t presume that VR is pro-pcars because it also talks up about other racing games.

To compare VR to that other site is an insult.

    • gimmelbop

Did u send in a news tip so that he is aware of it?

      • QUF

Yes I contacted them in the about/contact section.

      • BSNismo

It’s how they roll round here unfortunately. Forza 6 was not announced on here until yes they were sure the weather and lightning was undynamic just so pCARS looks somehow more impressive forgetting the fact it’s an absolute mess because of that dynamic weather in pCARS and can’t hold that 60fps that was rammed down our throats . Same goes with the AC announcement of console version, just had to get in there that announcement trailer was maybe all captured on PC, ignoring that pretty much every trailer for pCARS shared in here before release was captured and downsampled from 4k and never stated was captured on PC as they did with the AC console announcement hence the copious amounts of stuff around the net of the final game looking nothing like the trailers of pCARS

      • C172fccc

While VirtualR might or might not be used to promote Project CARS, your two examples seem a bit silly to me.

Your comment about Forza sound like a silly conspiracy. Seriously… If the weathear and lighting would have been dynamic, you think he wouldn’t have talked about it or wouldn’t have written about Forza 6 at all? I also failed to see any “hints” about pCARS in his Forza 6 news.

For Assetto, I’m pretty sure he mentionned that the trailer was maybe captured on pc because it was a console announcement, which by logic, should have been footaged from console.

While you might be right that he use this site to promote pCARS, I think you just went overboard with your examples.

      • punkfest2000

No it’s how your brain rolls because you are another one of those guys who beaked off and got shown the door from WMD. The exact same story about undynamic Forza 6 weather was on Eurogamer and every other blasted gaming site.

But let’s say there is a bias. Let’s say there is preference given to PCARS. So what?

      • BSNismo

Shown the door? I sold my axcount and left at own will, due to forseeing where it was heading and the final release proves to me I was right, not what was promised. A typical buggy unfinshed SMS title. Pleaae get facts right

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

If it was ‘typical’ then you knew beforehand, yet you still went in, eyes open.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

You’re pulling assumptions out of thin air just to try to back up your argument. The irony is that it seems you have some tinted glasses of your own.

      • BSNismo

        Predictable as always

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

But nontheless correct and others seem to agree.

Anyway, right back at ya if you want to talk predictability.

      • BSNismo

Yeah pCARS fans have responded. Hmm this feels all to familiar, except this time you’re not loosing you’re cool like you do with your mod hat off. Some funny emails come to mind. Language is really quite different to how I remember. The irony of seeing you ban people for attacking others and bad language is actually very amusing to me.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

These responses are from ‘fans’ ? πŸ™‚

Losing (one ‘o’ not two) my cool ? When was the last time that happened ? πŸ™‚ In the days before I was moderator possibly ? I dunno. I make it a point not to lose my cool moderator or not. Once you do that, you lose the argument. I find not losing your cool frustrates the would be troll far more than if you do.

Lanaguage is different to how you remember ? If you were born in the 15th century I`d say you could be right. Other than that, I dunno what you mean.

Bad language usually incurs a warning, not a ban. Unless it’s extreme and/or re-occurring.
People attacking others is against the posting rules so incurs it’s own penalties, again, ranging from a warning to a ban depending on severity.

Yes, back in the day before this place was moderated, I would use bad language from time to time myself. But only when I felt it was necessary. I also attacked people who attacked me but rarely staryed any attacks.
I would bite back, but I wasn’t a troll. I also made many valid and reasoned comments and was pretty ok in the main. Perhaps this is why I was accepted as a moderator (from which I seem to remember many members being happy about that).

So I can see your claim about irony and agree with it. Amusing ? Perhaps. Nonetheless times have changed.
Pre-moderation, this site was not a nice place to read commentary.
I like to think it has improved a little since those days.

So, as you have so adeptly, as usual, turned this into something personal about me, possibly to divert from my reply to you, I will leave you with this open post as I have nothing to hide from my past here.

      • BSNismo

Predictable as always, thanks for spellchecker service.

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

You really don’t have that much to say do you ?
And there is no way in the world you could have predicted my response. Not a chance. So you can put that scratched record away.

Well, glad to help with your education, but I suspect you’ll have forgotten how to spell ‘lose’ already. Which is ironic too.

      • BSNismo

C’mon David now now, sticks and stones and all that, are we 10 years old. Try harder next time, far too predictable

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

But you’re just rinsing and repeating. How’s that for predictability.
The moment I replied to your post that you sent to QUF, where I said you were pulling assumptions out of thin air, you’ve not been on topic since. You’ve made it all about me and spin this now predictable ‘predictabale’ record.

Why can’t you talk about the topic at hand ? Either there’s nothing left in the tank or you just prefer to have a go at me instead.
It’s a shame there is such a lack of meaningful debate in this thread.

      • BSNismo

Take a deep breath David, not good for your health

      • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Proving my point. You have nothing in the tank other than disdain.

  • Axel

From iRacing to R3E and now AC I’m always happy to get some more racing at Schandfhoort! πŸ˜‰
    Great track!

  • AussieStig

The addition of a new track for me, out weighs the addition of more street cars. Although some of these cars are seriously quick, and of course you can’t please everyone, I for one would like to see some seriously fast LMP1 cars, Aussie V8 Supercars and more real race cars in general from Kunos. A few more laser scanned tracks would be welcome, Bathurst is glaringly missing and rates up there with Nords, and Spa.

    • ftrracingtv

Bathurst and le mans needs to be done
As for the lmp1 that is coming with the toyota

      • http://danmarr.weebly.com Danfilm007

How are they going to laser scan the 24hr Circuit? As for Bathurst, I hope that too is soon!

      • ftrracingtv

the same way they do other tracks

      • http://danmarr.weebly.com Danfilm007

I think you missed the question – its not HOW, its how will they? (As contradictory it sounds, they can’t do it if half the circuit is now returned to live roads, unless, of course, they did it over the race week without any of us knowing…)

      • QUF

Le Mans is too expensive. Same as going over-seas to Australia. But Bathurst license can be cheaper.
But if they can do some kind of deal about the Le Mans subject.. but maybe after console release? Right now they have a lot on their hands before console release.

      • http://danmarr.weebly.com Danfilm007

I’m sure they might be able to get a deal with the ACO, I am sure all the AC lot would hope for it!

      • Hash

I hope one day tracks owners will scan their own tracks and then simply sell to whoever wants, market has proven theres a demand for it,that way one track doesn’t have to be scanned by several different studios.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

Some tracks (the Ring) already do that but in the grand scheme of things the scanning of the track is one of the least expensive parts of the process.

      • AussieStig

They will always have a lot on their hands, the problem is they don’t really take note of what we the consumers are requesting. There is a whole continent of with unique circuits and cars that are not represented in the game. VR UI implementation is not being addressed either.

      • QUF

How are they not taking note of what we are requesting? But they can’t always fall to our demands, because our demands are usually just ours and of a few. They need to think about their whole user and future base.

All racing games will be incomplete in terms of content simply because they didn’t simulate all cars and tracks that exist in the world.

But that is not the idea, the idea is to make a great selection of content that most racing gamers and motorsport fans accept and want to use.

And then comes down to the financial possibilities. I think they already tried to license and laser-scan Le Mans in the past, but it was too expensive/inaccessible. Probably the future will give them better opportunities.

VR UI is already being addressed, they said in an interview and in the forum. See here: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/ps4-version-imminent.24212/page-10#post-477342

      • AussieStig

But that is not the idea, the idea is to make a great selection of content that most racing gamers and motorsport fans accept and want to use.

My point exactly, Australia is not represented at all, there are many thousands of sim racers in Oz that would love to see V8 Supercars and circuits done the Kunos way.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

The US isn’t represented either; such is the woes of a game made by a tiny studio with a minuscule budget.

      • melanieuk1

Not forgetting they are based in Europe, like devs studios based in American Iracing or ISI, cant always cater for European consumers, it’s the me me me I want generation, without even thinking of reality.

      • QUF

Quoting myself: “And then comes down to the financial possibilities”, as well as logistics. Majority of cars Kunos simulate went to Vallelunga where their office are. And they also receive help from RSR Nurburg with which they did a partnership last year, because they also handle with several cars already included in AC, as well as Nordschleife recreation, since they provide car renting service for Nords track day.

Licensing V8 supercars would be like licensing a whole class of cars, for example blancpain gt3. And this would need tracks where these cars race, and other features to simulate their type of racing competition. Would be sorta like ADAC from raceroom or the Stock Car series from Brazil and Argentina, which Reiza simulated.

Maybe they could do 1 or 2 V8 supercars, but was it ‘massively’ requested anywhere for Kunos to even notice there is demand?

For them to simulate V8 supercars, they’d need to go to Australia and collect data from the cars, as well as at least laser-scan Bathurst there.

      • Michael Hornbuckle

Just because we request it doesn’t mean they can magically make it so..maybe if somebody was to just hand them a couple million dollars without wanting it back aka John Henry then maybe they could sign some more expensive tracks and fly around the world to record assets. Until then it is pretty amazing what a handful of guys on a shoestring budget have been able to accomplish but it seems the average simracer simply has no clue how the real world works.

I have been told that the new UI fully supports VR but I have no idea which VR it supports or when it will debut. Unless the dev kit 2 uses the same API as the consumer version there is no reason to support it at all.

      • Major Tom

I don’t think they laser scan the tracks themselves, I was under the impression that they bought the scans from companies that specialize in that, and Kunos pays for the track license and the scan.

    • noroardanto

      V8 Supercars! +1

  • ASUSNEX

Nice and the right time for me after playing PC cars a few weeks.
Geting completly hoked againg after a few weeks off : )

  • Chris

I can tell you I won’t be driving the Alfa at all (fwd and way too slow for my tastes), and the Miura I’ve already had the pleasure of driving for awhile so it’s not really like a new car to me. So really I see this as 3 cars and 1 track being updated. I agree with whoever said a waste of resources on that Alfa. There is only 2 sensible reasons I see to add. To impress Alfa, or for those that actually own this, but it’s a novelty and I can bet very few will be driving it regularly, unlike another car that could have filled that spot. Looking forward to the GTR finally though!

    • Michael Hornbuckle

Sometimes when you want to license a car, the manufacturer stipulates that you take a couple more that you don’t necessarily want.

      • Nesho Kasapov

They’re missing out by not including more classic Alfa touring cars. The 75. the 155TS, the 156 ST and S2000. Instead they bring a silly road car I’d never in my life want to drive,

  • erictheking87

Seriously I totally cannot understand all those naysayers. KUNOS GIVES YOU STUFF FOR FREE. And they are still unhappy with it.
And crying about ‘Alfa boring’, ‘We already have Miura’, ‘GT86 too good chassis in comaprision to engine – no fun’, ‘Quattro not racy enough’, and I can already hear the voices after release naysaying ‘GT-R drives like arcade game’ – ’cause in reality it also drives like a F… arcade game!!!!
Seriously WTF is wrong with you people???

And about that Mito. Can’t wait to drive it alongside Abarth around Magione.
I had some brilliant online races in Abarth S1 at Magione and it was great fun. Alfa will be great addition. And I would love to have also brilliant Fiesta ST (as Kunos already has Ford license).

If you like go and pay 120 bucks for 1 track in iRacing. If that makes you happy.

    • Jos

alfa will be a great addition even though theres already an alfa guiletta which is pretty much the same….

its a bit too much gran turismo now…

      • Al_D

Whats wrong with it being gran turismo like? As far as I know, theres been a lot of people wanting a GT like sim with a realistic physics in a long time.

      • erictheking87

Well for me gran turismo or forza with AC physics was always a wet dream.
Can’t see anything wrong with that?

      • Avus

Really? GranTurismo give customers free fake cars aka VisionGT. They are all garbage. Kuno give you REAL cars for free.

    • Roy Rki

Well, if they care so much about road cars, maybe they should model some roads, not just racing circuits. Seriously, TDU games were great. endless open roads with traffic, these cars would make much more sense. AC on a TDU map – heaven.

      • Joe Martin

You may not realize this, but the most raced cars on tracks are road cars, in fact, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is the most raced car in the world on tracks in pretty much every region of the world. The only racing I did in real life was track days in a 98′ Nissan 240SX when I was in the Army, and almost everyone else that showed up was in road cars with almost no modifications. I know people idolize the custom built super race machines (I do too), but the majority of races that actually take place are basically road cars, on real circuits.
As for an open world style track, I’m sure someone will make a mod for it soon, but building an open world by Kunos would take waaaaay too many man hours and time from more serious racing content. The best we can realistically hope for is another mod that brings part of Grand Theft Auto’s city or something similar to AC (which would be awesome, cause I like drifting).

    • RapidRefund

I for one truly wonder why so many creative people bend over backwards for the type of reward you mention from a good number of individuals within the community. SAD!

    • Dentykaffalatta

Looking forward to this myself also! Cheers!!

    • AE

Indeed, I own a 2011GTR, and it drives very similar in game.

  • Steave Sherman

Very good DLC, I very love this car !
