Assetto Corsa – Andre Böttcher GamesCom Run

The 2012 GamesCom has just commenced and many visitors took the chance to try Kunos Simulazioni’s Assetto Corsa show floor demo.

Among the ones giving it a try was veteran sim racers Andre Böttcher who competes in iRacing’s F1 world series.

Aside from the fact that a proven sim racer gives us a good look at the physics, the video is also remarkable for showing some other content than most of the other videos from GamesCom as we get to check out the Nürburgring Grand Prix track and the Lotus Exos 125.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

From the AC Facebook page.. “Car is still in development, it doesn’t feature yet the interactive display, physics and graphics modeling haven’t been completed yet, sound samples are placeholders. “

I think they didn´t need to give an advice. Compared to other cars you can clearly see its early stage.

I don’t care. i’m sure this simulation will battle for the sim crone.

Finally somebody, who pushed, I don’t like this view, too jumpy for me, but looks nice.

  • Big Ron

I am wondering, if I got thumps up if I would have written that it looks and sounds better than anything available….must have been my fans.

Based on NKP and the information we have for AC it looks very exciting to me , some nice cars , stable physics , nice tracks , nice game modes and AI to get more people to buy the game ending up with more on-line players in the long run.

Maybe they could tone it down a bit but I definitely prefer to see some “jumpyness” as no road/track surface is flat.

Yes. I like the way the guy’s do the job. Analysing the car’s directly on track and such, apart from there own enthusiasm let me feel good about this project. I wish this guy’s sucess as every serious sim developer also. But only one can get the crone. I’m really curious about it who will get the biggest serious sim driver community.

maybe you are too used to those flat not laser scanned tracks! glad to see
Kunos joining the elite of simulation with laser scanned tracks :)

  • Big Ron

Looking at Reiza´s tracks in Game Stock Car, I have no doubt that laser scanning isn´t the only way to make bumps on a track.

  • Big Ron

Seem like you are the first laser scanning fanboy appearing in the game world. Congratulations.

Lets start with trying to build a “serious sim driver community” first. The last few years i haven’t seen that much people that would fit the bill. ( Generally speaking that is )

  • Richard Hessels

I hoped for the driver would take a left turn at 1:04.

  • eifionevans

Agree with Pascal, reminds me of the wobbly view in some rFactor mods.

Finally a video that shows how to properly drive a track. That view is the CORRECT and only view for a sim, as that would be your POV if you were driving, hence, why they call it a sim, because it SIMULATES the experience. A nose view, roll bar view, chase view does not duplicate a POV, and does not belong in a game aspiring to be called a sim.

The guy didn’t mean the view port, but the wobble inherent on the view. I think it looked OK, but hard to tell. I do have worries with wobble because rf1 wobble in some mods was ridiculous, like an earthquake!

I’m not questioning their quality as I know if Reiza had the data iracing has at their hands they would do a much better job but I question the accuracy.

  • speed1

Yes you are right. I hope so that we can change this a bit in the future. But for that we need to tolerate each individuals intrest’s first without to start camp war’s what i have observed last time here. If anybody have a diff prereference i’m fine with it. Nobody is forcing me to like anything or not. The sim developer are doing this for us and we are destroying a community which was never the biggest one in the game industrie, the virtual sim racer. We are one nation with some diff’s in details but in general we have all the same intrest’s but we are not one this time. All the year’s people have wait for new project’s and now where whe get some new we fight each other instead of increase the community together.

Nice ! Thump down for the truth and peace. Great people out here.
