Assetto Corsa – 3D Previews

A bunch of 3D previews of Kunos Simulazioni’s Assetto Corsa title have been released on the Nvidia 3D Vision site.

You can check out the previews in Anaglyph 3D below, all you need to use is a pair of red/blue 3D glasses to check them out. Users of 3D Vision compatible hardware can even view them in full 3D here.

Assetto Corsa will be powered by a brand new DirectX 11 graphics engine and will come with advanced features such as blur & DOF. The title will offer extensive modding support as well as ten laser-scanned tracks and fully licensed cars as well as AI – A first for a Kunos title.

Assetto Corsa will be available in Q1 2013, the title will feature licensed cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, BMW & Lotus. Assetto Corsa is set to be released in Q1 2013.

Ok…now you AC devs overdone it. 3D previews?! Serious?!

  • Ricoo

It works great in 3D, with good frame rates with my old E7200 @ 3.8 gHz. pCARS takes lessons.

  • Mirko

Q1 is almost passed, where the hell is Asseto Corsa?

  • Jack_NL

wauw pictures 1 2 5 6 7 are perfect balanced for me with some blue red glasses
    the depth look so good

  • BackMarker

Wake up! They changed the release date from Q1 to Spring. Anything to give them more time (like pCARS delay announcement) to tweak the game is fine with me. :)

    AC meets a Viewmaster!

  • daz

Spring started today – 20th March (Vernal Equinox). Should have left it as Q1, as it gives them 11 more days, lol.

  • Anonymous

Meaning end of Spring, not by the start of Spring. Gives them 3 more months.

lol how much fps? 30? 15?

  • mikemav

I’ve tried the tech preview in 3D Vision from Nvidia, triple screen, 3072×768, and in 3D it runs well even on triples. I think about 45-50 fps w/ graphics settings high, IIRC. I get 60+ w/ the same triple projectors when set to 2D. Using two GTX580s in SLI. So I imagine w/ only single screen you’d be good in 3D with one of those cards or maybe even something like a 470, but that’s just a guess.

Really like the 49 Cosworth cot-pit view, Great stuff.

As if cpu is more important thang up for games.. what gpu you have?
Either way I agree AC seems GREATLY optimized, rf2&pcars need to learn too

Set my wheel using the in-game controller set-up, but when in game, on in car view, the steering wheel moves about twice as much as my input. Does any else notice this?

  • Ricoo

Both are important but CPU is the weak point of my system. Nevertheless it is fast enough for most games (pCARS is the only one I can’t play because of stuttering).

I have a GTX660. If not the fastest by far it’s the best value of Kepler family.

  • Ricoo

Full HD, E7200 @ 3.8 gHz, GTX660, some options on max, about 50 FPS.

Worth noting that non-nVidia users can have 3D too with Tridef.
25$ for almost any equipment/mode imaginable.

is it just me, or does netkar pro feel better ffb wise? It could just be the lotus, but I went back to netkar pro, totally default, but felt heaps better. It still looks like it will be awesome :) (p.s, it would look even awesomer with damage models ;)

I have 3d vision and must say that AC TP(No frame los), Rfactor 2, Gmotor titles, FVA are excelente, with no issues at all. On the other hand pCars, F1 2010-2012 total sheet. Onse you play in 3D, 2D looks funny. You cant go back. I tried triple screen and must say that 3D is better and and cheeper

Anyone who can play with anaglyph 3d deserves a medal, Just looking at those pictures with the glasses on does my head in

You using a G25/G27? If so, you need to set rotation to 900 degrees in the profiler. Then calibrate again in AC.

Spring, which isn’t that far off.

Id much rather have something a bit more polished than something which isn’t ready for prime-time a few weeks or a month earlier. I assume they are focusing on multiplayer/online aspects now in parallel with other tweaks.

Optimal in my view would be to have incremental content releases rather than all at once. Then they can polish a focused set of cars and tracks at the time, maybe a first release with only offline and a month later we get the online mode enabled.

We already have the amazing tech demo to play with meanwhile! :)

I think FF is better in AC

But it feels quite different to nkPRO since almost all cars are much stiffer in there than the Lotus so FF would appear more “direct”. Thats at least my guess.

Looking forward to driving some race cars in AC! (though most of all looking forward to the F40 and Lotus Evora GTE road cars) :)

For the 3D users out there, like myself, 3D is often left un-done and flawed in almost all titles ever! Even many “3D Vision Ready” titles!

Usually there are issues with shadows or some backgrounds etc rendering at the wrong depth (they cheated with rendering as you cant tell in 2D).

I dont drive or play anything in 2D anymore, 3D is just soo much more realistic and immersive and with modern hardware its flawless. I have been doing all my racing and gaming in 3D for over a year now (500++ hours).

Assetto Corsa renders flawlessly in perfect 3D, that is something worth showing off!!! :)

    AC is AWESOME in 3D!!

This is the best implementation I have ever seen of a 3D title… I was not expecting this at all! nkPRO renders OK but with the sky at wrong depth (your eyes start to hurt on some tracks without a close treeline to cover the sky)

Thank you Kunos!! AC is growing in my eyes for each day!

Just get the Oculus Rift VR support implemented and AC will be the most revolutionary driving experience since GPL 14 years ago! (it will most likely be anyway but this would just take it to another level!) I know Kunos has ordered a dev kit, so im quite sure it will happen! (I have ordered one as well)

Imagine driving AC with with full perception VR rendering in 3D, wow that will truly be revolutionary!

rF and rF2 renders shadows at wrong depth (otherwise great 3D)
R3E Looks very good in 3D as well but shadows renders at wrong depth
pCars still looks like complete crap in 3D

    GT5 on PS3 looks good in 3D but 720p only and 30fps

  • http://www.facebook.com/jsowen1 James Stephen Owen

    Thanks, I’ll try that.

    Q1 2013 – 9 days left :)

  • Joe Grover

AC is definitely awesome in 3D. Agree with you 100%. I love how amazing the inside car modeling looks. It’s like you’re sitting in a real car.

“rF and rF2 renders shadows at wrong depth (otherwise great 3D)”

Interesting. Not for me. rF and rF2 render perfectly for me in 3D.
