The big amount of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue pre-orders in Europe has indicated that the game would be a major success. Less than a week after the game hit the shelves, sales have been exceeding all expectations.

374,607 copies of GT5 Prologue have been sold in the first 48 hours after the releasing, adding to the one million pre-ordered copies. The figure does not include the PSN downloads and PS3-bundle sales either.

After a rather slow start in Europe, the first next-gen Gran Turismo seems to be just what the Playstation 3 needed to become a success.
