After bringing the recent seasons of IndyCar racing to rFactor, Michael Peters is now working on a historic year of IRL racing – The 1997 Indy Racing League season.
Twelve years ago, the IRL field was made up of two chassis builders, Dallara and G-Force. The cars were powered by 4 liter V8 engines build by Oldsmobile Aurora and Nissan Infinity, providing stunning open-wheel oval racing. You can check out a first render of the new mod below.

Stunning open wheel racing?
Who could tell – there was zero talent in the field other than a young Tony Stewart and over the hill Arie Luyendyk!
…odd year to simulate, but good luck.

hey I can understand why some might find this weird, but I thought it would be fun :)
PAQUITO had done the models for me a while back and I hate to see his work go to waste.
I also have about 50% of the 1996 field done as a 1996 IRL mod addon to Indycar 95 which iDT/Marcelo are allowing me to release. I imagine that will get posted here soon once the WIP gets approved at RFC.
That one will get released first, then this. I need help mapping these cars if anyone is willing to help!
