1937 Grand Prix for rFactor – Lots of Previews

Team Vintage has released plenty of new preview materials of their 1937 Grand Prix mod for rFactor that is nearing completion.

You can find a big bunch of new screenshots below, showing the various historical race cars the mod will offer in action. Furthermore, a new preview video shows a race at Brooklands, giving everyone an idea what 30s racing is all about.

Everyone who wants to know even more about the mod and it’s cars can download a detailed PDF with plenty of info here.

Made by Team Vintage, the 1937 Grand Prix mod will include five iconic pre-war era racing cars, bringing back the times when engines were powerful, tires narrow and seat belts were unheard of. Car models include the Auto union type C, Mercedes-Benz W125, Alfa Romeo 12C 36, Maserati 8CM & the E.R.A type B.

Those models are very well done, some of the best I’ve seen in a while. Team Vintage, get a hold of a 3D printer and you can make yourself some mini toy cars. :)

How cool does this look !  Nice !

Computers didn’t even exist in 1937 so no-one then could have imagined people in 2012 would virtually re-living their era of racing.    I can’t wait.

Fantastic models, but they need a screenshot master like 6e66o to really show these off in all their glory.

I’m not usually a lot on rFactor, but I HAVE to get this.

Imagine this with a heavy right foot, 900 degress on the sterringwheel and a lot of countersteering! :D

Can’t wait to give them a shot. I was a couple of weeks ago watching some of these cars racing and they look so much fun!

Looking forward very much to drive these ancients beasts.

some nitpicking to who made the screenshots.
It looks like you have anisotropic filtering on off.
Makes the textures look much more blurry than they should.

Lovely stuff… this is one of the mods I’m most looking forward to on any platform.

    WOW, amazing :)

So is there a sim that supports double clutching? Shifts look pretty fast as I’d imagine for those old cars the shifts would be slower.

    Anyways, amazing work!

They kinda didn’t want to have a screenmaker on board with them. :)

Double declutching, not really, but there is a plugin for rf that requires to revmatch closely and to depress clutch fully for shifting which makes it much better.
Shift times are very fast on this specific cars because it had a special preselector type of gearbox. All other cars in mod shift slow.

Brooklands was a very bumpy track. This is too smooth. Also does this have any connection with the old PC/Dreamcast game ‘Spirit of Speed 1937′?
