Imola 2010 – New Previews

Culmone67 & Mauro Delegà have released new previews of their impressive Imola 2010 track project, showing off some of the recent progress made on the Italian track.

The track will be released for rFactor, netKar Pro & GTR2, bringing the recent Imola layout to three of the most popular simulations.

Officially known as the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, the track has been majorly revamped after the 2006 season including a brand new pit complex and layout changes. Most importantly, the new layout lacks the final Variante Bassa chicane when used for car racing, creating a long flat-out straight all the way from Rivazza to the Traguardo corner.

Imressive. The track already has some the atmosphere we used to see on the TV.

  • Luke

It looks nice but I will only use this track if it also includes the pre-2006 layout.

    Congratz, great work. :)

Imola is a fun track. Too bad Bernie would rather give F1 to the Arabs than people who are genuinely excited when they see their heroes flying all over this majestic track.

  • Dan

I agree, there shouldn’t be a reason why they don’t include the pre 2006 layout.
So far the track and textures look very good, but where is the rest of the track?

  • The Biff

Keep up the good work!  I don’t understand why guys are so critical though when it’s very tough and time consuming to make tracks.

The rest of the track has not been created yet  ;) . This is scratch made track, that just as our previous work, Mugello, will be full of tiny details based on tons of photos and videos we are analyzing. On our forum (forum.radiators-champ.com) we are posting daily progress of the track.

For this new track, primarily created for netKar PRO,  Mauro and Giovanni are using some new techniques, and it will be much more accurate than our previous work.

The idea is to include the current layout of the circuit, in both variations: cars and motorbike layout (with the new variante bassa).
The decision was made to focus on the current version because we had more accurate data for this version.
At the moment it’s not planned to have a pre-2006 layout. The track has been heavily changed, and since we want to do an accurate work, it’s not really possible to create 2 completely different versions.
It’s not “just” few corners that have been changed during the years, but also box, and many other details around the track. It would be a project on it self.
If you want to do things properly this is not an option.
Creating a track with the level of details we want to put in, takes months (a lot of them).

Mauro and Giovanni have been on the circuit also few days ago, going around the track, taking pictures and driving on it. The experience has been really helpful and for sure they will be there more often to check some more details.

What editor they are using? BTB? Is there a good alternative to BTB?

  • Radiator Springs Racing Team

It’s entirely created in a 3d studio max. Each single object is modeled from scratch.
What you see in the pictures is KofLite, the netKar PRO track importer.

    well done track
    good detail

Well Luke seems you’re not going to use this track…
Leaves more space for me when i’m driving on it.

Keep it up guys! This is the way to create a track!

  • JGoenR

    Looks great. :)

  • dknine

fantastic previews guys, keep up this great work it already looks stunning 8-)

  • Luke

I’m not trying to be critical, but I love the Variante Bassa enough that I’ll be sticking to the SimBim version of this track. Imola is my favorite track in the real/digital world and it’s nice to have choices, but I’m choosing to use the older version.

  • F1Racer

Luke, you’re kinda missing the point with that rather strange comment.  You would use this track for the 2010 layout.  If you want the pre-2006 layout, you already have a few options out there.
This is like saying I`d only use this track if it had the 1994 layout or if it had a Monaco layout.

Its the 2010 layout so take it for what it is.

    Thank you very much!
